Porting number to Vodafone - anyway to stop it?
I've been trying to port my phone number to Vodafone since last Friday, every day support assure me it will be done within 24 hours and that it is on the priority queue. It hasn't happened yet. I now want to cancel the port (and the contract) and I'll be asking Vodafone support to do this in the morning, but I have no faith in their ability to cancel it.
Is there anything I can do with my existing phone company (O2) to prevent the number being ported?

I wouldn't think so i may be wrong and someone may come on here and say so but i think the only thing you can do is wait till the port goes over and then PAC back to O2.
Did you do this online or shop? if online you have the 14 days cooling of period but if shop there isn't any 14 days and you would be stuck with the contract.
when you do cancel the contract make sure you get it in writing text, email or they may say you didn't do it.
Also when you PAC to someone else the contract will automatically finnish as soon as it goes over to the new provider.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.0 -
I'm literally just off the chat with Vodafone, I've cancelled the contract and the port. From the sound of it (I seem to have got an actual helpful customer service guy) my order was seriously screwed up somehow and would never actually have been completed. They actually advised me the best way to proceed was to cancel and re-order. I'll think about the re-order part, the cost saving from O2 no longer seems worth it.0

and, inevitably, the number port has gone through this morning, leaving me without any mobile service as I shredded the Vodafone sim when they assured me it had been cancelled.0

Sorry you didn't get it sorted but here is how to get a new sim.
How do I get a replacement SIM? Chat to us online to order a new SIM from one of our advisers. Once you receive your new SIM, you'll need to activate it. You can also get a replacement SIM at any of our stores - remember to take valid photo ID with you.
Good luck.Nobody is Perfect. I am Nobody, therefore I am Perfect.1 -
Thanks, I got it all sorted the day after by calling in at the store. I'm not impressed with their support over live chat, as far as anyone on the phone or in the store could see none of the live chat support people had actually done anything.2
