Radio Times Massive Hidden Subscription Increases

End of the story was that Radio Times admitted my comments/criticism was very valid, (their own words).
Just a few days ago I was able to renew at £48.00 every 6 months so even less than I used to pay. I think they realised they had dropped a clanger!-1 -
They didn't apologise to every customer as you demanded though!peterdodds said:End of the story was that Radio Times admitted my comments/criticism was very valid, (their own words).
Seriously, why do you still subscribe to this magazine? As already pointed out earlier, several of the weekend newspapers produce listings that equal or surpass this anachronistic publication and do it far more cheaply.Electronic Programme Guides (EPGs) are also available from your TV or decoder box for no extra cost...0 -
You’re entirely missing the point about the Radio Times, and what it provides. It’s not remotely just a listings magazine, and provides far more than that, or an EPG. You’re trying to compare The Times with The Sun.Moneyineptitude said:

I’ve also had an apology, and been able to negotiate a considerably lower price - less than half the cover price - by the way.0 -
True. The articles, film criticism etc are far superior to what you get in the likes of TV Quick or the weekend supplements in the tabloids. Would I pay the cover price every week for that - maybe not. So when I get my next renewal - I will check the price and challenge. Thanks again to the OP for the warnign.Doc_N said:You’re entirely missing the point about the Radio Times, and what it provides. Whoever referred to RT as " anachronistic" obviously never reads this excellent magazine. I have watched it grow over many years and it always keeps up with the times ( no pun intended ). Indeed, one would be correct in saying that RT is a forward -looking magazine of great interest. It is far less about TV listings and much more about interesting and in-depth articles about many current topics and well-known celebrities. Also, it has puzzles, crosswords, quizzes and much more. Its holiday adverts are the best anywhere----indeed all its adverts are aimed at its core audience ( people of discernment and taste-------like moi

And of a certain age, like moi.coachman12 said:----indeed all its adverts are aimed at its core audience ( people of discernment and taste-------like moi ).Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.2 -
I never read it because more than 90% of it's content is TV (and Radio) listings that I can find elsewhere for nothing. The articles may well be "excellent", but in my opinion are not worth the cover ( or reduced subscription) price.coachman12 said:Whoever referred to RT as " anachronistic" obviously never reads this excellent magazine.
Like all print magazines, now living on borrowed time...0 -
Well, there used to be a Radio Times app, which was actually pretty good. Then they stopped supporting it. That seems pretty anachronistic to me.Retired at age 56 after having "light bulb moment" due to reading MSE and its forums. Have been converted to the "budget to zero" concept and use YNAB for all monthly budgeting and long term goals.0

Somebody doesn't really understand the meaning of "anachronistic" do they ??

I "understand" that the Radio Times is just one of many outdated media still available at the moment for some reason.coachman12 said:Somebody doesn't really understand the meaning of "anachronistic" do they ??
Years ago it sold in millions because there was no viable alternative.Nowadays it barely survives and ultimately is certainly doomed.0
