You don't have to wait a week to open another reg saver, you can open one immediately your old has matured ('disappeared').

Can't do that with M&S (the same banking group). Mine 'disappeared' a few days ago, matured yesterday, funds credited today to my current account (dated yesterday), but I cannot open a new one as it still thinks I've got a regular saver
Might that be to do with the Bank Holiday?  Wife's matured on 5th, showed in current account on 6th and could open a new RS that day ( although it does take them 2 days to tell you if you've actually got it which is a bit poor)

Maybe. I'll have another go tomorrow
I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?

The fact that their security both on and offline is OTT is exactly the reason I'm with them
That to use the website you need a smartphone or phone them up (at a cost to yourself) means its not fit for purpose. Why not use SMS like everyone else?

When I got a new phone, I was on the phone to them for nearly an hour getting the app to work cos of the excessive authorisations. You can still be secure but having something simpler & workable.

I'm in 2 minds whether to hold on as a donor account or just close & rationalise the number of current accounts I have, as its now surplus to requirements. Not bothering with another reg saver for 2.75%
Well if you have a contract mobile & some PAYG Or a land line with certain call packages. Its FREE.
Its not free, cos you're just paying for it on the contract. I'd probably need to pay an extra £5 a month just to log into a website. Its barmy.

Eh, can you explain how it costs you an extra £5 a month to log into a website? I am not paying one penny extra for my mobile contract to use First Direct or any other bank. I use apps and web access.
  • My endowments taken out 22 years ago mature later this year. Will they now be worth a lot less due to the Coronavirus affect on the markets. I am not reliant on them for my mortgage anymore but they were a nest-egg for my retirement.

A valid question but not for this thread, post your own (with more detail) on the savings & investing board....
