I had no problems as an attorney with setting up a relative’s accounts with Barclays online and once this is in place you can operate the accounts just like any other online account. My relative’s accounts were with Barclays (not online) and I had a Barclays account (operated online) so her accounts appeared under my account as a different user. Of course it would be a standalone account otherwise.
As written, I’m not quite sure of the exact premise behind organising the savings accounts. It looks to me that the suggestion might be to retain one savings account and transfer the other to a current account. I could have misunderstood but anyway once the account is set up the donor’s savings accounts would appear and you can do as you wish with them, subject obviously to the T&C.
I assume you mean you want to set up a direct debit to the carers. That can be done in exactly the same way as from any other account.

Relative had PoA for his late relative - he was able to set up a new current account for her with Barclays and a savings account and manage them on line with no problems.
With regard to the two old savings accounts, is the idea that some of the money in these should be diverted to a current account which would be used for everyday expenses? The DD by the Care Company would be set up on this account?
You could use a savings account with Barclays to hold some excess funds for easy transfer to the current account but you might prefer to open a savings account for her with another institution which would offer a better interest rate.0 -
Yes that right transfer money to current account for expenses,he said it would be moore secure that way.i think this might have been easier if i banked with barclays as that was 1 of the first questions he asked.ill have to set up an appointment again so they can advise me the best way to do this.and do this in barclays.
thanks people.0
