I would write it off, if I could. Like I said, when the agreement was made between the B&G/Venue - the venue's circumstances have radically changed. The issue is, they have done remedial works to clean up, but the same staff with a 'devil may care' attitude still work there, god knows what is going on when the health and safety are not watching. I feel that is some kind of contract break, and if it isn't - that would be the angle I would be playing.
I am really funny about things like this though. Id never have food from an unclean place
I think anyone would.
If they could.

They brought it back up so nothing to worry about.
I always think your own kitchen is a lot worse and you prepare food there.1 -

I'd be absolutely gob-smacked if you could cancel without penalty and without giving them the chance to improve.
And sometimes, when something like this HAS happened, things really DO improve a lot.
Not quite the same, but I'm very happy staying in Premier Inns atm, because if anyone is taking fire precautions seriously, they are ...Signature removed for peace of mind1 -
Did you sign a contract?1

I'd wait until the revised audit has taken place before cancelling and also go to the venue and discuss the issues with the catering manager. Looking at a follow up article it does seem that the venue had issues identified at the previous inspection as well.

Try and find out why they only got a one star rating. Sometimes it can be non food related such as not having a paper roll dispenser.1

You are unlikely to have any rights to cancel, but I would certainly put your concerns in writing and ask them to guarantee that the quality will be up to scratch for the summer wedding.
Perhaps have McDonalds or Just Eat on speed dial should it all go wrong?!?!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)1 -
