Norton scam?

Completely agree bobblebob, the biggest virus out there is human stupidity.Personally I prefer a paid anti virus solution and have stuck to NOD32/Eset since I’ve been using it for donkeys years.0

Yes. Rubbish. Really. Windows 10 has reasonable protection built in for free. That, and a little common sense, is all you need. Any company that shafts existing customers with an automatic grossly inflated "renewal" fee should go in the rubbish bin.Highland76 said:
Rubbish? Really? Are you still living in 2005? Norton - performance wise - performs as well as the likes of Kaspersky these days and is certainly no longer the bloatware it used to be. Many large corporations use their corporate version (Symantec Endpoint) which uses the same AV engine as the domestic version.ballyblack said:Norton is rubbish not even worth £15

I was talking about performance of Norton not whether it or not it was worth it paying for it. Its on a par with the likes of Kaspersky yet I don't hear many people saying that's "rubbish" as well. Both Kaspersky & Norton can be purchased for roughly the same price on Amazon.victor2 said:

I use paid Norton 360.
Though prefer to turn off Auto Renewal.
OP
Did you maybe have a free Norton 1 year license which could have had Auto Renewal pre selected.
No scam, I've enjoyed both Free 1 year and paid version this year.Replenished CRA Reports.2020 Nissan Leaf 128-149 miles top charge. Savings depleted. VM Stream tv M250 Volted to M350 then M500 since returned to 1gb1 -
I should also add Norton aren't unique in charging an inflated price for AV software, other paid for AV software such as Kaspersky, Bitdefender, ESET is also significantly more expensive if buying direct. Anyone who knows how to use Google will know that the likes of Amazon sell paid for AV software much cheaper (all legit). I'm fairly sure the OP forgot to untick the 'renew automatically' box when he/she first took out a Norton subscription on Symantec's website. Most, if not all, AV companies let you opt out of auto renewing subscriptions.0

I am receiving a huge nnmber of pop ups/notifications from Norton telling me my subscription has expired. I know that, I wish they would FOAD.
They have now dropped the price to £14.99.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
Why not just uninstall it Sir Deep? That way no more popups.

Expired anti-virus is about as much good as a chocolate fireguard.Uninstall it. If it won't go through the normal routes, this'll get shot of it:

I have Bullguard A/V installed on my new laptop ( well new-ish ) it operates on Windows 10 ,the only reason I have it on is I forgot I paid for a three year subscription when I had my old desktop on Windows XP, will it do any harm to leave it on my laptop as I have paid for it till next year?0

Presumably it is updating itself, so should be fine. It will have disabled the built-in Windows 10 protection when installed, just make sure you re-enable it when the Bullguard subscription runs out and it starts nagging you.Ganga said:I have Bullguard A/V installed on my new laptop ( well new-ish ) it operates on Windows 10 ,the only reason I have it on is I forgot I paid for a three year subscription when I had my old desktop on Windows XP, will it do any harm to leave it on my laptop as I have paid for it till next year?
