It's always worked for you? yet a couple of posts up in this thread you explained exactly how it hasn't always worked for you because you missed a payment....monetxchange said:
Yeah, I can see that. Different things work for different people, I guess. I'm a bit compulsive in that I like to do it all manually so I can keep track of figures. Always worked out for me.Alexd52 said:
This is where you set up a minimum payment DD as your safety net, then you can still top up the payment as and when you would do normallymonetxchange said:
But people paying differing amounts month to month don't always use DDs in case they can pay more/less in a given month. That's what I do, being self employed and having varying pay. I don't think it's a case of being foolish if credit card companies change dates month to month and someone accidentally pays a little early.Carrot007 said:This is why you pay vis DD for min and top up the day it comes out if it's not pay in full and you want to.I mean come on ity's not hard. Many CC's havea 30 day month and dates change. Some others are even odder.
There is nothing wrong with doing it manually but if you checked the statement and kept track of the figures like you said you do then you would see that the statement required paying slightly later than usual.1 -
Really wasn't trying to cause an argument here or question anyone's methods. I'm not on here looking for advice as I'm struggling with credit cards. I once paid too early without realising (as I would do it on payday like clockwork) then got a text mid month to say they hadn't received payment so topped it up with the minimum. That was once in probably 20 years of paying credit cards.Takmon said:

I get what you mean though. Checking statement dates has probably become less done nowadays in the works of paperless billing and internet banking transfers and you do have to have a keen eye and be on it. Not for everyone, I agree.Debt Free: 06/03/2020 Highest Debt: £37,5141
