It' is really not nice to call somebody deluded ... Seventy million trips sounds like a lot but really it is each and every person in Britain taking one trip abroad a yearMobileSaver said:

But is for under 3% of the year because one holiday per year average under 10 days so what about the other 340 or so days?MobileSaver said:bhupinder said:

That is correct and that is a small percent plus nobody dies from not going on holiday. Nothing nonsense or delusional about that and I do not see anybody said "small percentage population" and why are you so nasty about it there is no need. You are twisting what others say as excuse for being nasty. Maybe try to point out to airlines and frightened people cancelling holidays that you think they are being "nonsense and delusional" and see what they say, writing from safety of home instead of airport lounge. Good luck.

Ludicrous suggestion. Already the virus has caused huge global financial problems and this before the virus even hits a decent percent of populations. Then there is talk of closing all schools in Italy, globally talk of restricting meeting/group sizes, already many flights stopped. These are facts of what is happening now and it will get worse so suggesting that stopping international flights would cause "meltdown" when it is already happening is just illogical.penners324 said:Ludicrous suggestion. It'd send vast swathes of the economy into meltdown which eventually would cause far more damage than the virus.0 -

Regardless, a travel ban would affect 70 million trips abroad; in what way is that a small percentage of anything relative to 0.0001% of the 66 million UK population being infected?Being honest and frank is not being "nasty". I do get that the Snowflake Generation would like "hurting someone's feelings" to become a capital offence but that does not change the fact that to claim an international travel ban would only affect a small percentage is clearly delusional.

Don't you know that our government says up to 80% will probable get infected? You are the deluded one thinking that 3% of UK population/year travelling is worse than 80% of UK population who who they say will get infected which is around 53 million infected in UK -> at a WHO death rate of 3.4% means that around 1.8 million will die here in the UK. All because travel has encouraged the spread well tell the families of those who die that you think stopping the travel that has caused their infection and subsequent death is a delusion.MobileSaver said:bhupinder said:

I'm not sure where you got that figure of 70 million from from but it's worth pointing out that it's only a fraction of the total number of passengers travelling into, out of and around the uk by air. Heathrow by itself handled over 80 million passengers in 2018. In all there were nearly 300 million passengers travelling into and out of UK airports in 2018, according to the UK Civil Aviation Authority (via Wikipedia). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_busiest_airports_in_the_United_KingdomMobileSaver said:Compare that with the fact that there are around 70 million trips overseas by UK residents each year and you think a ban on international travel would affect only a small percentage?!?! People quite simply wont stomach the disruption of stopping travel. Here’s an interesting take on borders and stopping travel.

I’m now thinking that this is all some dastardly master plan by an evil genius.
damn you thunberg. Screw up my holiday and I’ll never set foot in a Ikea again2 -
Flybe is on the verge of collapsing. The first impacts of the virus are being felt.0

Flybe already collapsed months ago. They are only zombie-shuffling along because they were bailed out by a tax holiday from the Government. It's a bit rich if they try to blame coronavirus, though I suppose it makes a change from blaming Brexit.4
