Hi all, thanks for your time and interest in reading my issue. I have applied for compensation for a cancelled flight from Luton to Sofia on Feb 9th 2020 departure time of 1405hrs. We arrived in plenty of time, and while it was windy flights were taking off and landing. After a short delay we were checked in and bags taken as usual and we went to departures. At 1415hrs our flight was cancelled by wizzair with staff not giving a specific reason, but I did manage to get a staff member to say they were concerned that our plane could get re-routed and so cancelled it to ensure it was in the right place for the following day. We were offered no suitable alternative, refreshments or overnight accommodation. I had to book a hotel overnight and then drove home the following day. Wizzair claim we are entitled to nothing other than flight refunds as it was due to weather, however my argument is other flight operators and wizzair were still taking off and landing. They will not even refund an overnight stay we had to get.
So first question was anyone successful if receiving any type of compensation either from wizzair or any other airline on that day.

EUClaim appears to agree that the cancellation was due to extraordinary circumstances so no compensation due
did you stay overnight as you were expecting a replacement flight the next day? if not, was driving home the same day not an option?

As we got checked in and had bags taken and were in departures, we had a few drinks and so driving was not an option sadly. I have raised the complaint with ODR now and hopefully they may intervene or mediate. Next stop will be a no win no fee.

Be very careful if you use a no win no fee company only use a reputable company like bott & co or Euclaim.
