put the shelves up 1st, then make the frame for the size of the alcove....it would be to difficult to fix frame and then put the shelves up....
In this trusted place U can erase
Every tear that ever rolled down your weary face
All the time U waste in that paper chase
Is time better spent in these arms of mine

Measure, plan and design first, by doing a scale drawing, as this works out cheaper in the long run. Fitting frames and hanging doors are not jobs for the less experienced DIYer – even if you can get standard doors that fit your alcove and have a full carpenter’s tool kit!
Since you want to sell your property you want a decent job done and so a simpler solution will be both economic and make good use of the space.

As so many people now have personal computers, having a dedicated space for it will tidy it away and make good use of the alcove.

The simplest solution is to fit three level battens to the sides and back of the alcove at about 70cm from the floor; fix using screws and wall plugs (you will need to borrow a drill and a spirit level) Cut out a cardboard template that fits snugly on top of the battens and at a depth that comfortably accommodates your computer; it could be deeper than the alcove if this doesn’t impose upon the room. Fit additional level battens at appropriate shelf heights within the alcove, traditionally these will not be as deep (30cm) as the desk top although they can be adapted to suit the items you plan to store/display. Make additional templates for the shelves as these may differ for each shelf. Go to your local DIY store with board cutting facilities and have the shelves cut to size – 18mm MDF is probably suitable unless you have a very wide alcove, although you might want to consider doubling up the MDF for the desk if you want to put your tower on it as well. If you know someone with a jigsaw then it is cheaper to buy a sheet of MDF and cut yourself. Fit all your shelves and desk after gently sanding the front edges to – if there are any gaps then a small beading nailed in place will disguise these or a tube of “painters mate” a paintable caulking works wonders. Paint the MDF with MDF primer, the edges need several coats, then oil based undercoat and topcoat in a matching or contrasting colour to your rooms décor. Don’t forget to paint the battens as well.

………………..and yes I do design and make bespoke furniture!
    I came, I saw, I did a little browsing.
