kazahall said:Can anyone please advise whether we are required to pay the balance of our holiday to Spain, which is due on Monday? The holiday is booked for June and TUI are saying we have to pay and then have until the 31/5 to change the date. This might not be practical and would rather have a refund. Thanks for any advice.
If you change your holiday now, before you have to pay, your next payment wont be for at least 12 weeks before you go, though they have terms and conditions change. Any new booking between now and end of May you only have to pay the final balance 4 weeks before. It is not clear if an amendment follows the new terms and conditions. Either way, it delays any need to make payment.
You won't be able to cancel unless you are willing to lose the full deposit, which as others have said, you may not have fully paid yet.0 -
hi I'm due to travel to USA late June, currently, the flights are still valid...the tour operators want the balance i.e. >£6K...so i'm stuck...if i don't pay the balance I'm in effect breaking terms of the holiday whereas if I do pay i fully expect the holiday to be cancelled or if not - a bad experience! so the Q is do i pay the balance or hold tight?0

Sadly, if you dont pay balance, you lost your deposit. So your option is pay the balance, or accept you have lost your deposit. Unless the company are offering alternatives. By not paying the balance you are breaching the contract, and the company still has every intention to run those flights.
If, as we all expect the flights get cancelled, if that comes after you breach the contract, its purely on you.0 -

If I accept the offer of my airline to reschedule my flight for 12 months time and in that period the airline goes bust, would my original booking that was paid by a credit card cover me for my later flight?0

rach4peace said:I was really hoping someone could give me advice on this. Travel insurance purchased on 25th Feb 2020. We were due to go to Disneyland Paris on 15th March 2020 and due back on 18th March 2020, flying with Easyjet. Things were getting worrying with CV19 in Paris so we decided to cancel Disney. As we did this 8 days before we were due to go we got 75% of our hotel and park tickets back. We were afraid to leave it as otherwise we would not have gotten anything back. As it turns out we could never have gone as they closed the park the day we were supposed to go (15th March). Should Disney give us the other 25% back do you think? I emailed them a while back but no reply. On 17th March FCO warned against any non essential travel. Should easyjet refund at least the return flights after this warning was issued? Finally I tried to claim with my insurance, a Leisure guard policy I got through the MSE site. They are underwritten by Allianz Global Assist who have replied to say the policy states that you are not covered for claims arising from prohibitive regulations from the government of any country. This seems to be contrary to what the MSE table says about Leisureguard policies. They have also said that costs may be recoverable from accomodation provider and transport operator. Loooong story short I do not know where to go from here. We have mitigated our loss a bit with getting 75% of accomodation and park back and applying for govt tax refund for flights but have still lost over £1000. Sorry this is so long winded but would really appreciate some advice on this. You made what was the comfortable decision (for you) at the time with the information available. With hindsight it has cost you but you said yourself you didn't want to risk losing a greater sum.0

Hi all,
Cebu Airlines cancelled our flights in April and have told us no refund available, just credits which have to be used within 180 days. Obviously we won't be going within the next 180 days, anything we can do here as we booked with a debit card?
Also, Singapore airlines cancelled our flights costing £1,500 in total and have offered us credits to use by the end of March. I am concerned about not being able to use the credits so I said I didn't want them and preferred a refund. They haven't replied and that was 3 weeks ago.
Any suggestions?
Thank you0 -
