Have a look at some of the Skoda SUVs, if you can see beyond the badge you will be getting a very nice car with a lot of bells and whistles.

    Agree.
Why bother with a 2nd hand (yes I know you lose a lot straight away with new) But 7 year warranty. You know it's history. Not traded in due to problems...

So it's not a luxury brand. \but it will have a new 20 plate....

Get yourself a Volvo XC60, much nicer than all those BMWs & Audis.
Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.
  • I wouldn’t say that BMWs, Mercedes and Audi’s are luxury cars. They are probably in the premium bracket, but definitely not luxury.

With that said, don’t rule out the high end trims of makes that definitely wouldn’t be considered luxury.

About a year ago I bought a Hyundai Tucson in Premium trim, 4 months old and less than 4K miles for just a smidge over 20k.

Since it’s the Premium trim, it has almost everything - heated leather seats, reversing camera, lane keep assist, and all the other safety features and toys that you find on a higher end brand. Far too many things to list here.

But not being a premium brand, it meant that I was able to get a 4 month old car rather than 3 year old if I was looking at a more premium brand.

If you're looking at a luxury SUV, I'm surprised you're worrying about MPG.

Having looked at a lot of them, BMW and Range Rover would be my choice for the luxury and comfort.

Audis look terribly dated inside, Lexus feel and look quite cheap and the centre screen in Mercedes looks like an after thought.
Being reasonably well-off and still concerned about mpg and value for money are synonymous in my book.
I remember finding my boss on the phone ranting at the Range Rover dealer. He had bought a 5 litre petrol Range Rover and wasn't happy with the MPG. He wanted to take it in so they could fix it. I found it hard to keep a straight face.

    Thanks for the input.

I can't help you there.  I drive a Range Rover for the comfort etc.  However you try and spin it, RRs (along with any other desirable/premium brand) are expensive to buy/serivce/repair/run, so the last thing on my mind is MPG.

If MPG is so important, you'd be better off looking at a lesser marque than RR, BMW, Mercedes etc.

Import a Mahindra XUV500 from Italy. Brand new fully loaded 23k euros. Or a Dodge Journey with an LPG conversion from Germany. Of course they'll all be left hookers.
