This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Morning all. Can't find an earlier thread. Hope I haven't missed seeing it!
Many thanks for all the good wishes yesterday, they cheered me up enormously. ❤️ I drank most of my half bottle of fizz and ate some coffee / walnut cake which was substituting for birthday cake. This morning the cleaner is coming so I need to prep for that. Yesterday I received an unofficial heads up of the dry rot remedial work starting tomorrow 😱 so I've emailed the company and the Factor to say that I won't be ready by tomorrow. A friend is coming to move the furniture and take down the very heavy thick curtains. They're on a corded track which'll cause difficulties! And I can't be doing with being told by a neighbour!
On a better note I may be getting more internal verification work from another organisation, out of the blue. It can be done from home so that'll fit in well. I'll feel better when I'm being economically productive again. Now I must put my mind to logistics!Thoughts to all our poorlies. Happy Thursday to all.15 -
Morning all
I think I started the day off almost the same time as Gers so hopefully someone will delete it for me, raining buckets here and set in for most of the day . I have a wash on the go but it will have to go in the dryer. I want to have a quick tidy through this morning although I did give it a good clean yesterday I will sweep and mop the floors today with two dogs in the house they do need doing every day.
I am in the process of changing my email over as my old one will cease to exist soon, its amazing the amount of people you have to notify so will get on with that today. DD is working from home this afternoon so she will take pup out during her break and give me a rest from it .
Dinner tonight will be the filled pasta with salad and garlic bread so nice and easy.
Gers I hope you had a nice evening xx
Bella fingers crossed your dd's wedding goes ahead with no problems xx
Have good days all xx14 -
Morning. It’s snowed over night again just a light dusting on the cars. I am working but just this morning. Not sure what’s happening with my brother he’s saying he’s had enough at the hospital and he’s coming home today. I think they want him to stay. We will see mt brother can be a stubborn one. If he does come home. I will do a shop for him so he’s got lots in.

Morning folks and thanks GERS. Set off on the wrong foot this morning and only just on the right one!!
DD picking me up 8.30 start of school run to go shopping. Just really need Aldi but, knowing her, we will end up in every SM in town! No B Bake to make today as it's my one Thursday a month when the girls are not here for tea and sleepover. (DD on a 4 week rota)
Lovely day out yesterday. Bus ride to Skipton with blue sky and sunshine all the way. Lots of flooded fields made it feel like a drive through the Lake District. It was very nippy In Skipton so, as expected, more time was spent over lunch and wine than actually browsing! And we managed to sniff out a roaring fire! With good wine, good food and good company what could have been better! We have another day of sunshine forecast and it sounds like the south east are getting the brunt of the weather today. My sympathy.
I could do with a soup making session this afternoon. Stocks in the freezer are dwindling. And energy permitting I might make a head start on the Friday tidy!
Time to get coat and boots on so wishing you all a good day and ((HUGS)) as always for the poorlies and sad xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"14 -
Morning all, cold and drying up here after overnight rain this morning but we have the luxury of a day at home with no plans as yet so a little home attention and perhaps a cooking session are potentially on the books. We're due quite a lot more rain from tomorrow onwards and North Gloucestershire is in enough trouble with flooding as it is without any more water being in the system so I fully expect all the main roads round about to flood again and we'll be stuck. Luckily the village seems in the main to be above the flood line but we have the brook just across the road some 20 meters away so I'm always conscious of the speed and height of the water in it, I hope it stays in it's course but we'll have to wait and see!
Have a good day everyone xxx.

Morning
Lovely blue sky today sure its pretty deceptive but it does bring to mind nicer weather coming soon
45 mins solid work out with the terrorist yesterday ....ouch. Quite funny though he had me walking backwards and sidewards across the kitchen to improve balance think Michael Jackson with a wobble. This morning Im a bit achey but he's giving me a rest day then back to it tomorrow.
Not sure this is a good idea but yesterday I opened up my availability diary from April. Within a couple of minutes I had 2 bookings starting on the 7th so that's now the big goal. Maybe too soon Im not sure but quite honestly I can't afford any more time off.
Yesterdays pea and ham soup was lovely so I'll have another bowl for lunch then freezer for the rest. Fakeaway lamb doner tonight in pittas with salad
Hope you all have a good Thursday15 -
TA, we have got the snow down here after dodging it in Yorkshire. So far it is only small flakes though and not sticking on the wet roads and patios etc. Hopefully it won't last long, I love the snow but worry about Chris because he has such a long drive to work and back.
Steve was supposed to be playing golf so bang goes my four hours of peace. I wanted to get on with sorting the stuff we brought from Yorkshire and also the stuff that is on the shelves in Laura's room that I am working on emptying. She's been promising for years that she will go through it so it's going in boxes so that I can use the shelves.12 -
Morning all
I've not got round to posting for ages, we have yet more rain here, the water levels are really high, highest for twenty years and the ground is waterlogged. Many of my favourite dog walks are under water, the canal is still red boarded from Reading to Newbury so if you move your boat you are not insured. Some locks are chained shut, some are under water. A lot of the Thames is closed to navigation also.
Steve has had a few rough days, his ESA meeting on Monday wiped him out he has been unable to do anything since.
Nelski I hope you feel better soon.
Gers how unprofessional that your neighbour should hear before you.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester
Chin up, Titus out.16 -
Morning all Dolly has been walked and fed its rainy and cold here but no snow . Today i am going to the garden centre as i need something for my pots by the front door and some more stones for the front drive . Dinner tonight schnitzel and cauliflower cheese with roasties. I need to sort the conservatory out as we are going to DD2 flat at the weekend to pick up a car load to store here before she moves back for a month.
Nels your Michael Jackson moves round the kitchen made me laugh
Right onwards and upwards have a great day whatever you are up to stay safe and warm xx
