Thanks for all of the support everyone! Honestly, this is not the start I was expecting, and I will not be regularly making such chunky OP's. Firstly cause I don't have that cash lying around, but also cause I've OP half of the free allowance per year already!
Had my first payout from Prolific, so just sent that £7.89 to the mortgage.
Today's task: cut down some timber I had that could be the perfect thickness to replace the small bit of missing floorboard in the corner of my room.. I think I've decided I can't be arsed with sanding the floors; the floorboards aren't that nice and this bit will stand out! Also, it's really echoey and I think I want carpet under my toes when I get out of bed in the morning. This does mean that if I can fix the missing floorboard bit I can start with painting the walls! And maybe shop for carpet.. are those shops allowed to be open yet?!3 -
Does everyone else do (and really enjoy) a reconcilliation of finances on the first of the month? I really do..
First mortgage direct debit came out, but without the standard OP I had requested. They obviously haven't processed my request yet. I had requested £150 as a regular OP, but with looking at my accounts I think I could throw a bit more at it so have just sent £300 as my first June OP. Apart from rounding down my current account balance weekly and whatever I get from Prolific that will probably be it for this month. She says, until in a couple of weeks time I rejig savings and send a little more to it!
This weekend I managed to fix the hole in my bedroom floor, and spend more time filling in tiny holes/cracks in the walls and ceiling. Was good to get stuff done, and I'm proud of myself for doing some very basic carpentry! Onto washing the dusty walls and putting on a whitewash in the next few days to see what little bits of filling I have missed before painting starts properly!
Having a couple of friends over for a socially distanced BBQ in my garden this evening. Looking forward to that!5 -

Yep
first thing this morning straight on the banking app, most of my bills and mortgage go out on the first of the month and I get paid on the last day so the first of the month/ first few days, so I'm always checking. In fact lucky I did last month, as a service charge DD went out twice - company mistake and I didn't have enough to cover it in that current account. So I transferred money straight away, never been overdrawn in my life
. I got it refunded through DD guarantee. I do miss getting paid on the 24th as it meant I didn't have to have money to tide me over, whereas now as I have regular saving which comes out on the 28th, so I have to keep money aside for that.
