How many ISAs

Am I correct in thinking that you can only have one stocks/shares isa per year?......ie I would not be allowed investments of £10k on one platform and another £10k with another platform?
Accepting above is correct, .......if I opened a cash isa instead with the second £10k,I believe this would be ok?....and that being the case perhaps the next year I could convert this to stocks/shares isa with the second platform above and then also open a new £20k isa with same planform and overcome restriction mentioned initially.

You can have as many ISAs as you like, but can only pay new money into one of each type in any given tax year.
So, yes, you can only fund one S&S ISA this year but could pay into one of another type (such as cash) and transfer it to S&S next tax year if you like, or you could put all £20K into one S&S platform now and transfer £10K of it to another platform next year (regardless of what your plans are for new 2020/21 money), provided the platforms concerned handle partial transfers.
Or since we're rapidly approaching the end of the tax year anyway, you could use one S&S platform for 2019/20 money and a different one for 2020/21 money from 6 April....0
