Happy birthday Gers
Slight overnight snow, very cold, going to have a shufti at controls to see if I can sort it.......I'm not the most mechanical so hoping that it's just a button the wrong way or something similar.
Csarina......sorry to hear about OHs loss of memory...........
Nelski......keep up the good work, it will pay off.
Ruby......get well soon.....rest.
Trout with green beans and small potatoes today, had lunch out yesterday which was very good.....asked directions from Garda and it turned out that he was from the same area of West Kerry as OHs family......we knew his grandfather and his father,......quite a coincidence.
Sun trying to come out but no sign of a thaw......will go for paper in a while.
Have a good day everybody.....especially Gers
Marie

Birthday hugs Gers. When my House Troll was small my birthday often didn't feel much like a birthday. It felt like my life was like the Groundhog Day movie so instead of celebrating my birthday I celebrated that I'd survived another year. Treat yourself to cake and fizzy wine anyway because you deserve it just for doing a good job of surviving in your present role of carer etc. Love and more hugs xxx12

Happy Birthday Gers! Get out and hunt down some cake, spear it and return to your nest to wash it down with fizz. Or just do something nice for yourself...:) Ruby, try and relax till Friday [ easy to say I know] be nice to yourself and try and do things to help you stay calm if you can...Nelski, the night does things like that...I would say order yourself the brightest bulb you can find for your nearest lamp, then sit under it if the fear strikes again...because when you think about it, all the strides [literally] you have made recently...I mean, last week you were on crutches, this week, you are not You are cooking and cleaning and fighting with filo, all things that you couldn't have done to start with...Get yourself a progress chart and add the things each day you couldn't do yesterday and look at that in the depths of night....Right, I'm off to spending doom I-just-went-in-for-a-candle-and-came-out-with-a-sofa....Have a good one everyone! Whizzing about Wednesday!

Hello all, it's sunny but there's a bitterly cold wind.I too had an awful night worrying about things I can't do anything about. I'm not looking forward to Mr Fix It's oncology appointment next month, but I must think positive..... we are both still here and kicking at present.I had a visit with nurse Dracula this morning and as it was a fasting one we decided to go on to the garden centre for breakfast. I learnt my lesson from last time as I could not get through a small breakfast, it was huge. This time I had poached eggs on toast, with a pot of tea, it was delicious and I won't need much food for the rest of the day. The roads/lanes were passable but huge puddles still remain and some were just ice, so we were very careful. I called in the local shop for bread and milk on the way home ( and nothing else which is a first, as normally there are other things in my basket that I really didn't need.) Nothing is planned for this afternoon, so I will just potter about, then perhaps watch tv or read.Nelski keep your spirits up, you are doing marvellously. I'm not sure I could cope as well as you. Special gentle hugs, my BFFRedRuby I'm so sorry that you are having a difficult time, health wise. I hope all your extra aches and pain worries are unfounded. Hugs.Csarina enjoy your trip.Mehefin nice to " see " you. I hope you and Mrs M can get through this weekend unscathed. It's no fun having to bite your tongue or tip-toe around people when you are in your own home.Gers Happy birthday lovely. Perhaps you can get a large slice of gooey cake whilst you're out today, in fact you can eat one for me too ! Hope you can enjoy your day.MeanMarie hope you are enjoying your trip too.Take care all, hugs to all the poorly people, animals, truculent parents and/or children.Nan xx

Such lovely thoughts and wishes - many thanks all.I decided to go out into the sunshine, all wrapped up, and wander around. For ages there has been a bag of jewellery to go to auction so I found my way to Anita Manning's auction house and spoke to a valuer. Nothing gets as much as wanted or anticipated, however amongst the run-of-the-mill costume jewellery there are two or three 'good' pieces. So, I've left them there for the auction on 03 April. It's all stuff that DM doesn't want anymore and, as she gifted me all her jewellery last year, it was time for some to go.Yes, I've bought some fizz (proper fizz) and cake so will have that later this evening.
DM has been all sweetness and light and even managed to write me a birthday card - think it's actually an Easter card as it has a hare on the front - but it's the thought which definitely counts.
I hope that everyone has a good day - poached eggs sounds perfect!13 -
