O/S Daily Wednesday 26 February 2020
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Morning everyone
Hugs to those that want/need them, those who are poorly and those who are looking after a poorly person x
Happy birthday to those with a birthday x
DH and DS1 getting ready for work, I'm showered, dressed and enjoying my first cuppa and my porridge whilst on here. DS2 settled and happy.
Now getting light, air feels chilly.
Dinner last night was gammon, new potatoes, and some salad/picky bits - was nice and not too heavy as hairdresser was here so dinner was a bit later than normal. I got some lamb out to defrost - think I'm going to put it in the slow cooker with some gravy and just let it cook all day, I'll then prep some potatoes and veg for sides.
Work yesterday wasn't overly busy but we had staff briefing meeting which lasted over an hour so I that made a nice break in the day. Back to normal today - we'll see what that brings, my last day but I'm working Saturday.
Keep safe and well x

Good morning and thanks for starting NMLC.There's a hard frost here, funny, it wasn't frosty late last night when we came home from the quiz. Not a lot happening here today, the car is going for the dreaded MOT, so we're hoping for the best. It was serviced last week so there shouldn't be any nasty shocks.Nelski you are sounding really positive, keep it up! How is your Mum coping, you won't be able to help her like you did pre stroke.Dumpling hope you get your legs sorted.Hope everyone has a good Wednesday anyway, take care folks.17

Morning All
Still raining/sleeting, seems to have been going on for weeks now. On the up side, the evenings are getting lighter.
I met with my friend last night and we had a good catch up, realised we hadn't seen each other since November, not sure where the time has gone. Came home to a mess on the landing - forgot I had tipped out a basket of toiletries to look for something and hadn't had time to tidy up before I went to work. Anyway, loads of things in the bin and lots of moisturisers to use up over the coming weeks.
Hope you are all well and surviving the weather, parents, illness, etc. Take care. XX15 -
Morning folks and thanks NMLC.
One word could sum up outside this morning - BLEAK. There's a light covering of snow and it's so very cold! It's the Golden Girls bus trip day and as the sun is forecast to come out, though remain cold, we should be ok for setting off. Though I think more time could be spent in the pub over wine and lunch than actually wandering about! I hope we can track a roaring fire down!
I hope Sparkle doesn't object to being left all day and start ripping wallpaper off again! She seems to have stopped that trick now and is sticking to her scratching posts. Her poorly chin looks so much better after just a few days on the antibiotics.but, if it is caused by an allergy to something,, it could all erupt again when she finishes them. She was taken away from her original owner as it had spread over a lot of her body when left untreated. The carer showed me photos and the poor little cat looked a right mess. It's heartbreaking how some people can treat their pets.
Well better get myself moving. Have a good day folks and ((HUGS)) for the poorlies and sad. Take care one and all and stay safe xx

Good morning everyone, cold and frosty here and we have ice warnings. I hope spring is going to arrive soon.
I've put out leftovers and bird seed, the pigeons and magpies go for the leftovers and the tiny birds are already on their table.
I managed to get through a mass of work yesterday, just a little bit to complete another job today. I have jobs to do indoors too.
TA I hope Sparkle's chin continues to heal, poor little cat.
Have a good day everyone, keep safe and warm

Cold and very frosty here but the sun is trying to break through no rain due today either !! Off to the dentist today just for a check up I hope I dont need anything else doing I am already fed up with people poking at me !!
I phoned the Macmillan nurse yesterday to ask about my bleeding and my sore back she said if the bleeding has not stopped by Friday to speak to the consultant and she might advise me to see my gp and get a tablet to stop it before my op, also they will investigate my back pain and see of they can see anything on my MRI, I might have to go for another oneor a bone scan, its all quite scary atm but I am trying to be positive.
Pork chops for dinner tonight not sure what with yet might do mash and veg but will see what I fancy later. Washing to go on this morning and the dw needs emptying.
Right better get on have good days all xx

Morning everyone, a bright but cold day. I had to de-ice the car this morning. Picked up OF already for his few days stay. Meditation done. One load of OF washing in and sitting with my first cuppa of the day with a very sleepy kitty on my lap. OH still in bed so will have brunch with him about 10ish. Then little jobs, the usual tidy round, lick and a split round the bathroom then make up some stir fry for OH pack up. I do a batch cook so is sometimes split for home meals and pack up or just for him. I do either stir frys, currys, shepherds pies , pasta dishes. Put some in the freezer so he has a meal when he reaches his delivery destination for heating in microwave. As he does 10-12 hour days it's better than sarnies. He then takes some nibbles of fruit, nuts to tide him over.
This afternoon is catch up with SIL at hers so no expensive coffee today, have alot to catch up on as having seen her since before Christmas.
Hugs to everyone that needs them, stay safe and dry.

Redruby, fingers crossed the pain isn't linked. I know how easy it is to ascribe any little symptom to the cancer.
TA, enjoy the day out, it looks like we might have a bi more snow on the way, we're heading home today so I hope it holds off. We have to pick up the camper van from the dealers so I shall be driving back alone for most of the way. We've had quite a few problems with the van and have hardly used it because of Steve's illness last year so fingers crossed we can have some trouble free trips this year. So far we've had a flood because of faulty pipework, the mirrors have fallen off the bathroom cabinet and damaged the shower tray, the bathroom door needed replacing and the solar panels didn't charge the battery because it was wired wrongly. Oh, and the van iself has been recalled by Fiat because of a possible brake problem. Let's hope nothing else goes wrong.
We met up with friends for lunch yesterday, supposedly at a pub but when we got there i was closed (down, rather than just not open) so we went to a nearby cafe for soup and a sandwich. The husband and Steve have been best friends for 62 years, were each others best men and our children are similar ages. Their son, his partner and children are returning from Australia next week because she couldn't settle there, despite fighting for two years for a visa to go there. She is Dutch so they are going to live in Amsterdam so it will be a lot closer for the friends to visit, they've never met their one year old granddaughter.17 -
