Viewings after offer

Hello,
We are in the process of selling our flat to our neighbours who live directly below us. They had two viewings of the property which lasted 30 minutes and 45 minutes respectively (not sure why it took so long). After the viewings, they made an offer which we accepted. We have our mortgage ready and have found a house which we wish to buy. We made an offer which was also accepted. The surveys have been completed and enquiries have been made. So everything seemed to be going well. However, today our EA phoned saying that they wanted to view the property again tomorrow evening. I was annoyed with this as they had already spent quite a lot of time viewing the property previously and if they were unsure why did they make an offer? I suggested to the EA that they can view the property again after we agreed on a completion date as this would give me confidence that that they are serious. Did I do the wrong thing? Is it normal to keep viewing a property after having an offer accepted?

Hi CheckDigit, I don't have much experience with selling houses (actually none) but I do think that they may just love the place and want to spend time envisioning themselves in it. I certainly do that when I view somewhere I love enough to make an offer on. Seeing where my dining table will fit, where I'd put my chest of drawers, etc etc.
I wouldn't be annoyed as I doubt it is an indication they're not serious; I would be gracious and let them view and many times as they want because if things turn sour or they felt like I was annoyed at them after they put an offer in, they may well rescind it...

I’m not sure why you think another viewing would be a negative, you haven’t given us any other indication that things aren’t going well. It could be excitement and keenness0

The prospective buyers live in the flat below you? Why don't they knock and ask to have a look round to measure up or whatever it is they want to do? Seems odd to go via the estate agent when it's your immediate neighbour.0

Im the opposite. I viewed a house I am buying for my son. Its a beaut. I decided that once we have exchanged I’ll view again. We dont want to be disappointed by loving it so much then it all goes wrong, because until exchange its not a done deal0

Buying a house is one of the (if not the) largerst financial purchases someone will ever make, and they need to make sure everything with the property is good. Let them view the property again.
If someone wouldn't let me have another look after making an offer, I would be worried about what they were trying to hide.
The first time you look at a property, you may have seen many others the same day, and even though you knew you liked it at the time, you just need to refresh your memory and check the place out again.3 -
Depends whether they're viewing it, or measuring up. I've sometimes been round again before completion (usually after exchange but not always if exchange to completion is going to be short) to measure up for curtains and furniture. Vendors haven't minded that - but I've specifically asked if I can view again in order to measure up, so they don't worry!
As others have said though, you'll probably have to let them come round because if you say no it'll look pretty suspicious.0 -
