Need to be concerned?

We booked a room last July for a stay in Charleston(2 nights) for April this year, i recieved an email today from the hotel stating that there will be renovation work on the building which may have an impact on our stay. I have asked if they can clarify it by what sort of impact? I am being slightly paranoid as there is a festival on at the same time as us being there and am wondering what are my options if they are trying to get a cancellation out of us or wanting to get a better price off someone else? It seems late in the day to be advising us of this.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I have personally never been affected much by building work. They do it in the daytime and usually you won't be there in the day you will be out doing things.

Check tripadvisor to see if others have commented on the building works if they have started if you are concerned.
