parrot23 said:Me too. Don’t think I’ve ever felt so low in all my life. I spend hours searching these posts.
I'm hoping today will be the start of something new.. actually being able to take me son swimming, going for a day out, buying the food we actually want rather than what little we can afford. Who knows, maybe even take my son on his first ever holiday (he's 8!).
I feel so much lighter than even yesterday 😊3 -
jwmc77 said:Do how does it all work now? I went br in 2008 and obviously had to go to court but I hear it all online now....is all aspects of it online? Do you speak to the or on the phone? Any insight would be appreciated.0

So just to update....there is no update! Bankruptcy approved on Tuesday but so far no call from the OR and my bank account is still active. I was kind of expecting something to have happened by now? I don't know what, this is all new to me, but maybe even just my account to be unusable?
I have emptied my voicemail (first time since January 😬) as I have a busy couple of days so can answer any call I might get but I feel like I'm just..... waiting....is this normal?
I've also batted away a few calls from creditors, should I be answering and giving by BR number? I feel a bit awkward, which I know is absolutely ridiculous, and a bit guilty.0 -
Still early days yet, but it's quite possible your account won't be frozen at allIt maybe worth answering a call from each creditor to inform them that you are now bankrupt, as that should stop them calling back, although they'll find out soon enough anyway. If they keep calling block their number0

I have a Halifax basic account, never bothered to upgrade it in the 15 odd years I had it, and I went in branch to enquire how bankruptcy friendly they were. Her reply was "not very at the moment, we will freeze, then close, your account as soon as we are informed. As of next week we are starting staff training and becoming a more inclusive bank and bankruptcy friendly, but that won't apply to you!" 😂😂 I have opened a nationwide basic account and will be changing over to that regardless, a fresh start and all that.
I will answer some calls, need to put my big girl pants on!!!!!l0 -
I had heard on here that Halifax weren’t bankruptcy friendly, apparently Bank of Scotland were the same, although they were happy enough with my IVA. I had an account with Nationwide too and they were friendly, at the time the flexbasic account was one of best, they were among first to allow basic customers contactless and mobile payments0

Sacha28,
That's the worst over and done with, concentrate on moving forward, enjoying your son, new job & husband. What makes me so angry is the way banks/creditors harangue and chase us for their money, they are nothing more than snakes in the grass who feed on our vulnerability, don't let them beat you down.
It is now five years since my B/O and believe me I feel for anyone in a similar position, stay strong, it was my attitude (arrogance) it's only money for God's sake, not life and death (this used to annoy my wife so much, she was angry at me!) and if I haven't got it guess what I cannot pay you, move on.
I have also seen instances whereby financial pressures have caused people to take their own lives, only two weeks ago I unfortunately attended a funeral of a friend who succumbed to this dreadful act, clearly desperate situations which no-one should ever have to face. Please put things in context and enjoy the start of a new beginning.
Best of luck

I would answer all calls from your creditors and give them your BR number, you wont ever hear from them again and it is such a relief after spending months trying to avoid them1

It's taken since the beginning of January to be able to file, it's a logistical nightmare! Both my husband (who will be filing at the end of this month) and I had vehicles on finance that needed to be voluntarily repossessed and we needed to replace those with cars (we live in the sticks with no public transport so no car is not an option) but could only afford one car a month. I've been lucky enough to be approved for a grant from a nurses trust for the fees otherwise it would be even longer!1
