Help, phone failed outside warranty before phone fully paid off.
Ive got a problem
Girlfriends 2yr mobile contract is 13 month in. The Apple iphone (might be 6) was new at time of getting the contract, has been well looked after, not droped or got wet, and shes still paying it off.
However it started to not hold charge then diddnt come on at all. Returned to retailer who sent it off for repair.
Now they say the repair (havnt explained whats wrong) will cost £300 !.
to upgrade will cost £220
to cancel the contract will be £180
This all grates on several levels as you can imagine, including the fact the phone dies just after the warrenty expires. But the phone seems to have had a flaw and hasnt lasted the 2 years of the contract so I feel wasnt fit for the purpose for which it was advertised.
How can one avoid the absured charges or get phone fixed or replaced. its all abit confusing and I doubt the phone reailer will be very accommodating to problems that require some effort.
What do I do, what do we say and who do we speak to?

( feel wasnt fit for the purpose for which it was advertised. )Not knowing what was advertised difficult to know .£300 to fix sounds like claiming user damage .Your consumer rights are against the vendor speak to them .1

At the very least a phone sold with a 2 year contract implies the phone will last at least 2 years. doesnt it?
Also were still in the dark what this damage actually is.

Contract and phone are separate .

People claim the phones never been wet but probably use it when it's raining and not unknown to sit in a hot bath using their phones or leave it on a shelf while in the shower . All the above can cause damp inside the phone which triggers the damp indicator inside.
If it's claimed to be water ingress than you on a loser , the damp indicator is inside the phone and highly unlikely that it's changed colour unless it's got dampEx forum ambassador
