Good opportunity for CEO's to give all the bad news and throw the kitchen sink in at the same time........
  • DairyQueen - at what stage do you change the thread title?
You mean a minor correction to the 'minor correction'?

Certainly a large paper hit this week, not changing anything and it's a test of investing emotions which I'm sticking too. On the positive side of this week my February IT dividends doubled last February and invested them back in today. I know dividends can be cut but I'll take that positive for the moment.

I wish this had happened last year for two reasons. I would not have retired and i would have used up less LTA on crystallisation.

I just hope what I have left will be enough after this week's 15% slump. It probably is but I would have preferred more of a margin. But, hey, what's done is done. Not exactly living the high life anyway.

We don't know what way it'll be in the coming months ahead,.hopefully natural yield will hold up and at some point a recovery will happen we just can't time or know when.

In equity space, that is the case. In Ruffer world, the NAV is only about 3% down, discount widening appears to be the main reason.....bit strange for a fund of this type. Discount now c10%.

Investment trusts will generally have some cushion to maintain dividends even if there are some cuts in the underlying portfolio which one hopes would be temporary. So natural yield in an IT portfolio is likely to be ok I think, unless there is a deeper malaise than Corona.

Yes true many ITs have a reserve as such for dividends. I have a wide IT portfolio  and reinvest all dividends, hopefully natural yield holds up and I'll be pumping it back in. I think if natural yield can hold up during periods like this it can help. Not that I'm going to sell anything but if I was too that dividend income goes too. I'll be sticking to my strategy and reinvesting and adding capital as normal.

High non-equity holdings?  February factsheet will disclose more detail.

Hastings, McColls and Stobart have either cut or cancelled their dividends this week. The markets may have been buoyant in recent months. Appears actual trading conditions haven't been so good for a while.
