Can "Force Majeure" apply in anticipation? (Easyjet flight cancelled 2 days before storm)

Easyjet recently cancelled our flights two days in advance due to Storm Dennis. Funnily enough, they didn't cancel all flights, many other flights that ran a similar route were still running as normal, and indeed most flights from Gatwick were uninterrupted. The weather reports at the time show perfect weather at our destination, and we took screen shots of a long list of flights that left Gatwick at the same time as our cancelled flight. We're going to put in a claim as it cost us an absolute fortune to book flights out on the same day, I just know Easyjet will come back with "force majeure" as the reason. In law, force majeure is "unforeseeable circumstances that prevent someone from fulfilling a contract". Surely It can't be unforeseeable, when 1. they cancelled 2 days in advance, and 2. other flights (Easyjet and otherwise) were running to schedule on that day.
Is anyone else trying to recuperate costs due to Storm Dennis cancellations?
