Am I Entitled For Any Benefits

PasturesNew wrote: »Yes, but that is because I just moved 200 miles as I was living in a remote area where there wasn't any work. And now I am here I've decided to study instead as the market I was targetting has collapsed in the last 3 months due in part to the credit crunch.
Although, I would admit, I might be doing it wrong... I wouldn't know how to do it any differently to how I was.
The reason for me asking was to see if you thought it may be useful for others to offer advice to help?
It was just an idea. I think that you can often get stuck if you are trying to be too specialised early on. Many people think that they can walk into a higher paid job due to qualifcations, but unfortunately it often doesn't work like that.
I have to say that I don't personally currently know anyone unemployed (unless you count SAHMs) but I do know plenty of people working who have had to change their immediate targets in order to gain employment.
Good luck with your training, but again, you may find that flexibity may have to be the key. (Obviously once you have a job, you can cherry pick and look for a more specialised position).....just my two penneth......it keeps the wolves from the door at least.
With regards to your comments on the time taken looking for employment, I'm a great believer in getting others to do the leg work for you. Go through agencies.....not just any agencies, but ones who you know have found suitable positions for friends/family. Also find out who within that agency did the leg work as some agencies are chronic. The job centre is also a good way of finding employment and it's surprising what you can find there. Things may have changed since I was last looking for work, but I found them very helpful.
Obviously the most efficient way is probably still "who you know"."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -
Completely under-whelmed by the kindness and empathy shown here to the OP. There may be a good reason why he doesn't have a full time job. You lot are just ripping him to shreds - what help is that? You really haven't got the point of this forum have you? I am ashamed of you people...........

Because there are people who work 40+ hours each week to pay their way then there's others who who do nothing but mooch off of the hard workers.
The OP didn't mention any reason they can't work a full day.0 -

Maybe you never meet them because they're at home, poor.I do know plenty of people working who have had to change their immediate targets in order to gain employment.
I've always gone for "first person that will offer me any job I can do .... because I need to work because I need the money"Good luck with your training, but again, you may find that flexibity may have to be the key. My "work" is in a specialised area. I use agencies in my field - as do the other 10,000 people wanting the same jobs. The job centre is also a good way of finding employment and it's surprising what you can find there.

I notice the OP hasn't bothered to come back and clarify the points that have been raised.
What did he/she expect? Other than yet another link to entitledto.com there is very little advice anyone could give, with so few details of the situation.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

Little unecessary perhaps?
I've helped lots of people find work over the years (I'm like that) from salaries ranging from under 20k pa to over 100k. That's just the way I am. IMO it's only when you start being too picky with regards to salary/position or geography that you start getting in real hot water.
Out of interest, what are you going to do if the market doesn't pick up? It certainly didn't in my father's industry. Even the European positions dried up. Is the extra course costing you money?
As I said before, I wish you luck."One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."

I would like to point out that the OP's title is "Am I entitled for any benefits?"
Just a simple question.
