MARCH forward. I am struggling with past decisions, and in particular lack of decisions, but my eyes are firmly focussed on the horizon and on trying to make carefully reflected decisions for the day, the week and for the next 5 years. Empathy and being present with people, listening - to emotions and not fluffy words is my emotional challenge.
ARMOURY - my EF is my armoury to the world, it keeps me warm and happy and independent. It's small but growing.REVIEW your shopping habits. C00p is my bane - there is ne down the road and if I can cut down to 1 visit a week that would cut £5-10 off my weekly shops.CHECK well been there and done that, but a wave just came in so my stores are full of pasta, spices and pulsars, veggie burgers w pasta is the fastfood of the week.Have done budgets. They will be tight this month as potentially working hours that won't be paid until May.MIX IT UP Yep will prioritise exercise and creative habits before chores going forwards.EXERCISE Yes am reviewing this one, due to ongoing problems with my ankle I am not sure about continuing the longer runs, might cut down to 5 k's and more swimming.REST AND RELAXATION. I will watch more trees. Sometimes I park with a view to a body of water towards the end of my commute and do a 10 min meditation. Might make this more of a habit.REDUCE T - Yep should not need to buy any stuff this month, except might get more tupperware to cut down on plastic bas.IGNORE am thinking about deleting certain apps off my phone!MUSIC ... and replace them with a music app - even if it mans listening to some adds.EVERY DAY yep I'm in for the long haul. I love this thread.NO SPEND DAYS (NSDs) I failed miserably on this one last month - so will try again.Today I am grateful for sunshine, my voice and for a budget that will keep me fed this month.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%

Have had a busy few days. Finished all the painting in DS's room and on Friday DH fitted a new plug socket at the other side of the room, when he was fitting the floorboards back down he went straight through the central heating pipes, cue water through the ceilings. Only 5 seconds before he did it I warned him about that exact thing. Compared to the rest of Yorkshire my flood was small so I will not complain. Plumber came out yesterday morning (relative of DH's) and fixed us back up again, then we spent yesterday laying laminate floor and building the new bed, looks fab so far but still work to do. Spent £1.50 yesterday on tacks but today we are going to Ikea - we will be spending there but needs must - DS has a very small room and we need to be very inventive with storage.

Pinch, punch, first of the month!!!
Love a fresh month and a fresh start. Really liked what you wrote Mothernerd about leaving mistakes behind and seeing them as lessons. I again sit here thinking my months do follow a pattern... Start well and full of enthusiasm... Towards mid-month I struggle and feel depleted... then i go into hiding feeling I have nothing left to give or have gone off the rails a bit (in more ways than one!!!). If I link this to feeling in control... at the start of the month my coiffers of money are full... I feel 'rich'... mid month it has dwindled and I am in survival mode... end of the month I'm on empty emotionally and financially. Budgeting should help me avoid this... if I stick to it I should have the same amount each week. I think I need to re-focus on realising being 'rich' need not be measured in money alone... hence the gratitude practice.
Today I am grateful for:
1) My lovely little home and the security and sanctuary it provides
2) Friends old and new in my life
3) A beautiful day outside!
I watched a good YTube video which talked about a morning routine to start the day where you pay attention to body (nutrition) mind (read 10 pages out of a book) and spirit (meditation or prayer)... This alongside exercise (and sunlight) promotes a healthy outlook and positive well-being. I managed a 59 day run on mindfulness then fell off under the wagon again... and I've really struggled since stopping. Instead I have perpetuated bad habits that I know aren't good for me (eating junk food or overeating, binge-watching TV and gaming as an escape to numb the mind, not exercising, social withdrawal...). Time for a<nother!> REBOOT!!!
This month I am aiming for 20 NSDs, 2 gyms session a week plus at least 10 minutes of activity/exercise on other days, and the morning routine outlined above. My word for March is balance as I tend to be all-or-nothing.
Have a fantastic 01st March everyone!!!

Happy new month folks. Today will be a NSD 😃
have washing pegged out for the first time and DH and I are planning a day in the garden. Slow roast beef already in the SC for tonight’s roast.March is going to be about sticking to my budget that’s already planned and in YNAB, increasing exercise and hopefully getting the garden in some sort of order.
aiming for 15 NSDs
tidy garden
stick to budget
do some meditation
continue to eat from the freezer to keep food costs down
aim for an average of 7000 steps a day minimum
Have a good month all.

Here is my start. Happy March everyoneMARCH forward. The mistakes of the past should be left there. I need to remember this, as I am a great one for going over past events. And it is never useful.ARMOURY Frugal habits and my hard earned savings buffer are my armoury.REVIEW your shopping habits. Do you have any weak points? Yes! I have developed an unfortunate habit of buying books on Am*zon. This must stop. I will buy no books this month unless they are from a charity shop.CHECK out what you have in your cupboards, fridge and freezer. I am trying to clear down my freezers, and this will continue this month. I always cook from scratch, so nothing different there.HAVE all your budgets in place before the start of the month. 3 family birthdays this month, but all covered.MIX IT UP Try new things and new ways of doing things. I will think about thisEXERCISE According to your current state of health and abilities. Hoping the weather will improve this month, so I can get outside more.REST AND RELAXATION. Yes.REDUCE. I will continue to limit food shopping and use up the freezer contents. I will also continue with decluttering.IGNORE the mass media, ads telling you their product will make your life complete, 'friends' posting about their perfect life on bookface (so fabulous they need to escape from it). I am pretty good at this.MUSIC. I have got out of the habit of listening to music. Must get back into it. I have made a start by subscribing to a friend's Youtube channel. She is a musician and is brilliant!EVERY DAY check in is recommended. I will try.NO SPEND DAYS (NSDs). I will aim for 15.THREE things each day to be grateful for. I must remember to do this.
