Monmouthshire BS have now opened my 7.00% Regular Saver. I have sent a FP to it today.Kazza242 said:I received my welcome letter and passbook for the Monmouthshire BS Exclusive Regular Saver account (8.00%) in today's mail.
The letter and passbook includes the account number, sort code and roll number details needed to make a faster payment deposit.
I am still awaiting the opening of the 7.00% Regular Saver, but I've been told that they have received my application and will be processing it in due course.
I am still awaiting the passbook and letter for this account, which were apparently posted out to me yesterday. I'll probably receive them tomorrow.
Please call me 'Kazza'.1 -
When withdrawing from the Darlington, is there an option to close the account?0

I’m a new customer too … trying not to be critical of Monmouth but it’s all a bit confusing! I sent my signature form back a couple of days ago, the letter says I can’t transact until form is received by them. But then it also says‘Once initial funds have been deposited… you can access your account online by simply completing the registration and activation steps via the My Accounts section of our website..’tg99 said:I’m a new customer to Monmouth and got the welcoming letter today. Will return the sig form in the enclosed envelope but in the meantime can I make first £300 deposit before 5pm today and thus it be allocated to my account tomorrow so can then make another £300 payment on Friday 1 Sep? It says on the letter 1 working day for receipt of deposits but also advised to do before 25th. Thx.
But the letter doesn’t tell you how to deposit! So I’ve taken a leap today and completed the online registration and will apparently receive an activation key by post and I’ve made a Faster Payment using the sort code and account number found on the MBS website and my account number from the letter. Fingers crossed !
I think the being able to transact bit is probably related to withdrawals rather than paying in but don’t know for certain.
The way I understand it is that for the 7%, ALL get a signature required letter which gives details of how to pay in as this could be for new members.
For the 8% and existing members you don't get a signature request as in theory this is not open to all, nor does it tell you the pay-in details.3 -

Neither of my two letters gave me details of how to pay in. Though I think the passbook includes this info (cba to get my passbook out of the safe atm)

There is an anomaly on this account.flaneurs_lobster said:chris_the_bee said:
In common with all other BS, maturity is on the 12 month anniversary of opening the account i.e 25th August 2024.BestSeagull said:
If the account is opened on 25th August 2023 and a month is a calendar month, are we sure that the end date of the "12 months" is not 31st of August 2024?This is the detail from my MonBS RS:
Account Information
Is "Next Interest Due Date" the same as Maturity Date?Product Name: CORONATION REGULAR SAVER Date Opened 26/04/2023 Next Interest Due Date 31/03/2024
In one place it states:-- Interest is variable and calculated on a daily basis on the balance in the account and paid at the end of the 12-month term.
- Interest is paid annually and can be added to the account or paid into a suitable bank/ building society account or suitable Monmouthshire Building Society account following close of business 31 March.
I need to clarify this with them for tax reasons.Fortunately however, there is no such ambiguity for the latest 2 products - interest is paid at the end of the term

Leeds Regular Saver Issue 43 has now been replaced by Issue 44 at the same rate (5.25%), maturing on 1/9/25.6

Anyone has any experience with LeedsBS? I opened an account but haven't funded yet because I can't see it on line till I receive a code by post. The saver is attractive because if the 2 years period, but I don't know these people. Anyone know them and how they work?Bridlington1 said:Leeds Regular Saver Issue 43 has now been replaced by Issue 44 at the same rate (5.25%), maturing on 1/9/25.0 -
They're pretty good to use I've found. Online banking is basic but functional and staff have always been helpful whenever I've phoned them. They send a text whenever they receive a deposit into the account, which is a plus particularly if funding it for the first time. Deposits aren't instant but I've found they arrive within a couple of hours so don't worry if the payment doesn't arrive straight away.francoghezzi said:

One thing to note about the regular saver is that you can't make withdrawals by faster payment from it online, however you can make a transfer to another Leeds BS account online. I've found the Access Saver allows you to make withdrawals by faster payment over the phone and has a £1 minimum balance so what it may be worth doing is opening an Access Saver as well with and sticking £1 in it, then if you need to make a withdrawal you can transfer the money to the Access Saver before phoning them to make a faster payment from there in order to save faffing about with cheques.7
