Since I fear we're starting to go a bit off topic (apologies for that), any guesses for what the new Principality BS regular saver issue 33 interest rate will be?
I wondered perhaps 4.75% - someone else suggested this around when the BOE rate rose last month IIRC. 5% would be nice, but maybe too nice
Well they did jump 0.75% from 3% to 3.75% from issue 30 to 31 if I recall correctly so a 0.5% increase doesn't seem inconceivable to me at all, plus it has been a while since they launched issue 32.
Issue 30 3.25% released in or around October 2022
Issue 31 4.00% released in or around February 2023
Issue 32 4.50% released in or around March 2023
Issue 33 ?% to release in (or around) June 2023

I'd be pleased with 5.00% tbh - more favourable terms than Loughborough BS RS
Still no news on issue 33.  I wonder how long it will take Principality to reveal the mystery. I won't fund it if it's below 5%.
Well the deposit still isn't showing up in internet banking when I log in and nothing has appeared on moneyfacts yet so the magical mystery savings rate most likely remains unknown till at least tomorrow.

Today is 5 days after I opened it so I'll be intrigued if it gets closed in the next day or so due to a lack of funding.

It's their FHS regular saver I'm more concerned about though. At 4.25% it is starting to look in danger of being partially emptied next month but they do seem to have a habit of upping the rate shortly before I plan to empty it so hopefully something will happen by the end of the month.

Why do you think the money would show up in an account that doesn't actually exist? The product hasn't been launched so just because you have an account number doesn't mean anything. Not sure why the impatience to open an account when not even aware of interest rate let alone any of the other T&C!!

Fair point about the account not existing, I had gone by the logic of since they had given me an account number the account must have existed in one form or another but was unable to accept deposits due to it not having been launched yet. The account may well not exist yet so I appreciate now I was foolish to think the deposit would show up in the account before the day of launch.

I wouldn't call it impatience to open the account as such though, more intrigue as to what the interest rate will be at this stage. Yes I accept that I was overly impatient to try apply for the account and fund it in the first place but now that I have an account number it would be nice to know what the rate will be, even if I can't put anything in it yet.

That was my reason for opening it.  I clicked "open" assuming the next page will show me more details, instead it showed me my new account number.

I don't think that's right, your initial logic was correct - you have an account number, therefore the account exists.

Whether or not you'll be able to keep the account and/or transact on it is a different matter.

And I wouldn't recommend opening an account before it is properly launched though - you've no idea what you were signing up to. ;)
  • I wonder about that too.  I would've thought if they were going to change the way their website operates they'd have done it when it became apparent that people could open accounts that had gone NLA by going in the opposite direction to what I did on Friday. It's still possible to apply for the 5% Christmas regular saver online for example, though whether they'd let you fund and keep the account afterwards is another matter.

My Principality Christmas 2023 saver matures in April 2024. I think it was opened about 3 months or so after it was NLA using your URL tweaking method, and it's still happily accepting funding.

Crypto?  Personally, I'll stick to tulip bulbs.
Sure go ahead and buy tulip bulbs. Tell us later how it went.
He had many tulip bulbs that produced beautiful flowers and was able to sell them for a profit?
Still wondering if Principality have twigged they have a bunch of open accounts for a product they haven't launched yet or indeed whether they'll alter the way their website operates?

Having said that if you can't actually do anything with the account before it's launched I imagine there probably isn't much need to change the way their website operates.

If any pre-opened accounts don't automatically switch on as fundable when the issue is eventually launched, you might be having to contact them to close and delete it so as to defeat an inhibit on opening another of the same issue

I also opened the Christmas account when it was NLA, funded for 3 months and closed it a couple of days ago, got balance and interest sent to my nominated account without any issues
