WOW, this is unheard of! KRBS are reducing the interest rate on existing regular savers. Emails just in.

Is it unheard of? I'm sure that Yorkshire Building Society amongst others reduced their regular saver rates for their existing customers to give them the benefit of 'mutuality'.

I think they mean it is unheard of for KRBS

    Yes that's what I mean.
  • I opened a Loughborough Building Society Save to Buy account on 13 May 2019, paying 3% variable and accepting up to £500 per month with a maximum of £24,000 (4 years' saving at £500 per month).  I've paid in £500 per month since then. Annual interest was added on 13th May at £102.77. I've been expecting a rate cut but nothing so far. It seems that Loughborough dropped rates on other accounts. Really glad that I opened this one last year and fingers crossed that the rate continues.

Same here, Hattie , re Loughborough. Rang them the other day for missing t and c's, they confirm 3% and variable. I send in the passbook every so often. Fingers and legs crossed.

I would have thought the more people that increase administration costs  of operating the account more chance of rate being dropped .....

Why? They don't have the costs involved in running online access and those doing business by post are not contributing to wear and tear on the floor coverings etc at branches. Sending in your passbook for a few updates a year will only involve at most a couple of minutes of staff time per transaction and the cost of return postage.

    That's a strange analogy.

Is it really worth the cost of postage eroding what you've earnt or do you have prepaid envelopes?

See your point, W.M.C......prepaid so far for the first check and at my expense for the second. Some things , like phone calls, stamps, petrol etc. have to be put down to general expenses.
