I’ve had products where new higher rate issues I could apply for have been released, but I didn’t have HSBC/FD until last week, and I’ve not had any other fixed rate RSs where the rate changed mid-term. I only started with these in mid 2022, so this may have happened before then - I don’t know
Several years ago, Virgin Money increased the interest rate on all of its various 'fixed rate' RS issues that were then in flight. Longstanding RS enthusiasts following this thread would surely remember that: at the time it seemed quite unprecedented.
It’s certainly a nice gesture when providers do this, but I’ve never seen HSBC/FD (or VM) explain how their terms permit them to do it for a fixed rate. Does anyone know how/if they have some clause that permits it please? I did look through the HSBC booklets when they did it, but I couldn’t find anything.
I guess as long as they offered an opt out for those it would negatively affect (some benefits, pensions, tax-free allowance I think, but not sure?), then they can probably do it because it seems unlikely the regulator would say they weren’t fair or reasonable to their customers

Hoping the First Home Saver Online Issue 2 (and other issues) rate will be increasing, but not sure as haven't been able to scroll down that far before I get logged off!

I am an existing Monmouthshire BS member. I downloaded, completed and posted off a savings application form for the account on Thursday 13th April, along with a cheque and a letter.
They opened the Coronation Regular Saver account for me the next day (14th April). I have received the passbook and account confirmation letter in the post today.
They are opening the accounts very quickly! My account was also opened on the same day that they received my application.
Well done, The Monmouthshire.
Please call me 'Kazza'.4 -

Just experienced a miracle! Put my Monmouth application in a post box on Wednesday 19/4 (I usually go to the PO for important letters but for once I didn't) using one of their own second-class franked envelopes. The ticket on the post-box said next collection 7AM - so Thursday 20th.
Today - 21/4 - I've had my pass-book and a covering letter dated 20/4 from Monmouth.
Apparently the postmen have just accepted a pay settlement.
I'm still in a state of disbelief!1 -
