I’ve just checked my bank account and can see that the principality BS have been returning my monthly deposits from the regular saver I opened in December. Will have to investigate why. Has anyone else had this?
I haven't had that issue, and I hold a few RSs with them. Maybe double check the reference is inputted correct, the maximum monthly deposit, and that the account is showing on your principality dashboard. If that doesn't work, hopefully there is a note on their system that they can share if you call up. I remember I once had a payment not reach my account with them, because it was below the minimum initial deposit. They had it in a holding account, and they manually sent it back after I enquired, so chances are they've been manually sending back yours too.
To make sure we receive the standing order payments by the end of each month you should ensure they leave your bank or building society account by the 20th of the month.
Another term that's meaningless and not applied.
  • Question to those who have the HSBC linked regular saver, can you pay in from an external ac (and therefore do a standing order from that external ac)?

I just opened one and during the application process, it seemed heavily implied that you could only pay in from the linked account. Unsure whether it’s just my wrong interpretation of the rules.

No, payments into HSBC regular saver have to come from standing order from an internal current account.
  • For those with Natwest/RBS Reg savers and using Paypal to fill them up quickly by (ab)using double round ups. Make sure you opt for digital statements!

I did for RBS but forgot for Natwest. Received 22 letters with statements today. The pile is 5cm high.

The thing that annoys me about Natwest/RBS statements is that they print them single sided and on A5 sheets with a fairly large font. If they just printed them double sided on A4 with a slightly smaller font they could have easily got the number of letters down to single figures.

True, guess that's an old statement format. Hi have hundreds of those sheets now all showing 1p Paypal transactions. On the other side, isn't it nice to get so much fan post lol
  • I can't seem to see this mentioned anywhere, Bath BS are raising their regular saver rates from 1st March:

16-25 Regular Saver rising to 6.75%
The Regular Saver rising to 3.59%

I haven't seen a NatWest statement for over 20 years. They were printed landscape on an A5 sheet although they may not have been exactly A5.

The bank also used to issue a small ring binder to file them in.

That’s great news! I’ve just seen it on the website now. Did you get an email? Usually they tend to email, but I didn’t get one this time
