  • For those with Natwest/RBS Reg savers and using Paypal to fill them up quickly by (ab)using double round ups. Make sure you opt for digital statements!

    I did for RBS but forgot for Natwest. Received 22 letters with statements today. The pile is 5cm high.

    The thing that annoys me about Natwest/RBS statements is that they print them single sided and on A5 sheets with a fairly large font. If they just printed them double sided on A4 with a slightly smaller font they could have easily got the number of letters down to single figures.

    True, guess that's an old statement format. Hi have hundreds of those sheets now all showing 1p Paypal transactions. On the other side, isn't it nice to get so much fan post lol

    I haven't seen a NatWest statement for over 20 years. They were printed landscape on an A5 sheet although they may not have been exactly A5.

    The bank also used to issue a small ring binder to file them in.

    That’s great news! I’ve just seen it on the website now. Did you get an email? Usually they tend to email, but I didn’t get one this time

    No email yet. I just typed Bath BS into my web browser as I wanted to log into online banking and it automatically came up with the regular savers page. I noticed the new rate change on there.

    Do you mind explaining how double round ups work please?

    Essentially every time you make a debit card payment the change from the nearest pound is doubled and transferred the digital regular saver.

    So say you made a debit card payment of £1.01.
    £2-£1.01 = 99p
    99px2=£1.98
    so £1.98 would be transferred from your current account to the digital regular saver (assuming you had sufficient funds in the account)
