I am interested in the H&R account. I know you have to apply by post but does anyone know if the monthly deposits can be made by bank transfer? Thanks in anticipation

Yes they can but no online access to  check balance or give notice to withdraw.  Similar arrangement to Loughborough BS.

You can view the balance online, and give notice online via secure message, but withdrawals are via post with the passbook only
Could you provide a link to the log in page. I can’t seem to find it.

    H&R Online

To help maintain service and quality, some telephone calls ...etc

Just filled in the application form for H&R’s 30 Day Notice Regular Saver.

It says I have to enclose a cheque - only problem is I don’t possess one.

Can I just send the completed application form back and transfer funds into the account (once they open it)?

That's what I did. I made a note on application form to say I would pay by bank transfer once account is opened. All worked OK.
  • I’ve just realised that this month’s prize draw was the last one for the YBS make me a saver account so I’ve just gone and cancelled my standing order accordingly. Not a single prize won 👎.

Has anyone drained their account / closed it yet? Is it worth keeping open?

According to Moneyfacts, Yorkshire Building Society are launching their Christmas 2023 Regular Saver, paying 4.50%.

The account matures on 31st October 2023.  It reverts into an Access Saver on maturity.

You can pay in between £1 - £300 per month.  The maximum investment is £3,000.

The account must be opened in branch or via the post.  Once opened the account can be managed online, via the branch or post.

Moneyfacts states that one withdrawal is permitted per account year.

Thanks Kazza - does anyone know if they’ve offered an internet application version before please? Just surprised YBS is offering this account as branch/post only

When they launched the family saver account back in July, I seem to recall that was branch/post opening. Then about a week or two later they released an online only version with identical Ts&Cs. I suspect they do this to avoid being swamped with too many applications in case demand is higher than expected, as Monmouthshire were not too long ago.

Either way I will be going into branch on Monday to open the one day account so will see if I can open the regular saver whilst I'm at it.
