Re Monmouthshire Christmas RS, my cheque was cashed yesterday (posted it off the day it got launched but due to the postal strike didn’t go for a couple of days). So expect a letter in a day or so….hopefully

Natwest/RBS Digital Saver - I know the roundups feature doesn't count towards the £150/month limit, but is there a monthly/total limit on the amount that can be paid in this way too? No mention of their websites so thinking there isn't?

There is no limit on the amount, only a limit on how much effort you're willing to put in.
Normal spending will obviously work as intended. If someone was trying to manufacture debit card transactions specifically for the round up feature then given the miniscule benefit of doing so compared to the time it takes for each transaction I personally couldn't be bothered.

It may take an extra month or two to max the account out but I'm okay with that.
  • I opened a Paragon account after it was suggested here as one of the best for instant access. I was getting 2.35%, but I had an email yesterday saying the rate was going up to 3%. I'm a bit confused by this as that is significantly higher than the best that is listed on MSE at the moment

You can make a max of 100 transactions a day so assuming you max out with double round up that's a 198 per day makes it around 24 days to fill it up. I did a test payment to my energy supplier and that worked, made a secodn one with Paypal of sending 1p to the other half. if that works, I know what I will do the next days :-)

I am more bothered about the BT cc I applied for with RBS last Sunday, they said 3-5 days to hear back from them and today is day 6. The hotline only operates Mon - Fri so that's a complaint going in on Monday. With this level of service I am not expecting any issues with 100 debit card payments of 1p a day :D

    Hi Folks,

Apologies for the long gap since the last update. I am still updating the first page right now and I need to take a break so I am posting this entry right now as I will lose my progress on this post if the system times out!

  • Coming back to the regular saver ISA, I would love this even if the pay-in couldn't cover the full allowance. I was just thinking about how much I used to love these but, on reflection, I probably haven't had one since 2013 when the ISA limit increased so drastically.

Most of my savings are genuinely building monthly from salary so anything that gives higher interest for regular pay-in is a great deal for me personally. I find having an account that asks for monthly contribution much more motivational than just having a normal savings account with a standing order going in for some reason.

I would love a regular saver ISA but obviously only something that beats something easy-access - considering 3% is available in an ISA, it would really need to be well better than that to be worth messing around with. If it's well above, I'd even forgive them if the monthly pay-in limit is low.
