    Re First Direct RS
The RS page is now stating 3.5% interest, but when I log in to apply the page is still showing as 1% interest....  Anyone else seeing this?

    EPC
Yes, it's still 1% on the app.

    Re First Direct RS

Well, at least it's not just me.  Hopefully the internal pages will update later.

    EPC

It's showing now but glitchy on the app. I'll go back to it shortly.

Just logged in again using a laptop & the interest is now showing 3.5%.  Application went smoothly, as usual with FD "the account can take up to 3 days to show".  But at least it's open & showing the correct interest on the application page now.

    EPC
Why on earth does it take up to 3 working days to appear on online banking? Just all seems a bit antiquated! I know they need to set up a 'standing order' but it is just internal isn't it? Surely it should be next day at worst.

HSBC's regular saver opens and appears pretty much instantaneously.
It normally shows up next day, I’ve had 10 regular savers with them over the last 15 years.
Interest will start today, at the end just call them on the 28-04-23 and ask for the money and they do it there and then.

    The interest starts today?

    Before you've funded it?

    That's useful.

Echo what others have said can't understand why there's such a love of FD

I've applied online but you can open the FD Regular Saver via telephone as well - which is instant.

However, having done it in the past, it means you need to listen to the poor staff member having to read out the T&C on the telephone for regulatory reasons..

I set it up today, Money was there waiting.
    I expect interest from today.
    If not I will complain.
I paid a cheque in at a Kent  post office 3 or 4 years ago and it went missing.
Post office said it’s not their fault and FD said not our fault.
Made another call to FD  8 day later and they gave me the money as a goodwill gesture.
After 13 weeks the cheque was paid in just outside Glasgow.

I've found that HSBC and First Direct's timescales to be the same in the past.

Usually, relatively quick but on occasion it has taken a while.. which it might today if they have received lots of applications.

Just a little update, my FD regular saver is open today and showing on my account.
Backdated to yesterday when first applied.

    Wow! That was quick.

Did you apply online or over the phone, and was the initial £300 deposit from your First Account also backdated to yesterday?

The way FD and HSBC operate their regular saver it makes no difference when they actually open it as payments in are by standing order on the same date every month. Unlike others where you can open at the end of the month and then add another payment at the start of the next month.
The only benefit would be that it matured a couple of days sooner next year.
