Toll roads with hire car

Hi, 

I am hiring a car in Portugal and need to travel from Lisbon to obidos. 
The route goes along the a8 which looks to be a toll road. 
Please could abyobe advise the best way of paying this?
I will be returning the same route 5 days later with no toll routes in between.

• Check whether your hire car company supplies a transponder or not. You will pay for its "hire" and at a later date you will be billed for tolls. This happened to me with Avis, explained at desk and no unforeseen fees or false claims for use. Cannot say this will be the case for all companies but this was my experience

I second the above - getting a transponder from the hire company is by far the easiest way to do this. Worked very smoothly with Sixt at Faro airport.

you can pay manually at a local post office, easiest to rent the transponder and get them billed.

We cocked up on one and sorted it eventually and only cost £2.00 but took an age to sort as we'd left Portugal
