OP, don't waste your petrol on coming to Swansea city centre - the council are currently succeeding where the Luftwaffe failed in World War II!!

  • If you fancy a drive west Narberth is a busy little town full of interesting independent shops and cafes. Quite expensive though and not very MSE but worth a detour if you're visiting Tenby or the coast.

I'd never thought of going there - I've been past there loads of times on the way out west, and while I think of it, that's where Jellyegg.com is based where I get my Crocs from! I'll give it a try, thanks for that.

Jelly Egg is in the old Town Hall smack bang in the middle of the High Street, you can't miss it! Other interesting shops are:

Wheatsheaf Gallery - smellies, jewellery, cards, toys, Emma Bridgewater crockery, Nigella Lawson kitchen stuff, etc
Idos surfshop - all the usual surfwear, shoes, wetsuits, etc
The Fabric House - ornaments, jewellery, clothes, Steiff teddy bears
    White/Barafundle Bay/Zoloko/Tom Hughes - ladies clothing boutiques
Friday's Child - nursery stuff, pushchairs, toys

Happy shopping. PS. I live there ;)

EDIT: Also a very good butcher/fishmonger, Wise Buys greengrocer/deli and an expensive deli selling posh olive oil/cheese/bread. All on the high st

Bumping this up because I finally got around to visiting Narberth today and it was very nice. Had a good walk around, visited Jellyegg (home of the crocs!) and went to "Liz's Coffee Shop" for a snack. All the staff in the shops and coffee shop were really friendly and very helpful, not only to us, but there seemed to be lots of regulars in the shops too (iykwim). Was surprisingly busy too, and best of all, free parking. I liked it. Then we went 10 minutes down the road to Saundersfoot for bucket and spade fun with DD. All in all a very nice day.

Thanks for the info. MollyM - I'd have never have ventured there if you hadn't mentioned it.
