Don't you mean Festival Village in Ebbw Vale?
And good shops in Newport ? Where are they I must have missed them!
I agree with you about Abergavenny and also Chepstow is a nice place to shop.

I'm very biased but I think South Wales is a lovely place to live. I've lived here all of my life in a small town about 20 mins from Abertillery and I would never want to leave.

Festival park is an ok shopping centre but is more worth going for a walk around the park and a visit to see the owls.

Cardiff & Swansea both have fantastic shopping centres. Personally I like Cwmbran or Abergavenny - smaller but with enough variety not to get bored. Theres a fab crafts shop in Abergavenny called "canny crafts" (think they have a website somewhere). Also Abergavenny holds regular craft fairs in the indoor markets which are worth going for a quick look. Bailey Park in abergavenny is quite nice for kids.

Cwmbran is ideal for rainy days as much of it is under cover.

Newport is larger than both Cwmbran & Abergavenny with a wider variety of shops.

Sorry if I've babbled a bit but I love this area.

Have to tell every one about Crazy Macs. Its opposite Tescos Extra In Fforestfach just off Jn 47 of the M4. He buys bankcrupt and insurance write off stock. To date I've had some lovely towels there, shower rail, garden stuff, shelving and a table marked at £60 but was a Courts one for £400!!

Also nearby are two tother shops, Dewhirst who used to and still make some of M&S Stuff. Directions. carry on into Swansea past Crazy Macs First traffic lights (next to Texaco) turn right. Go down the really poorly tarmeced road. Its about half a mile on the left

Meghans Mills. Go past Dewhirst to the end of the road, turn left and its about half a mile down the road. Don't think they make for anyone but worth a look.

If you dislike supermarkets etc head for places like Abergavenny / Chepstow / Monmouth / Brecon for a good range of smaller shops.
Personally i dislike Newport a lot.
Closest nicest biggish shopping place is Hereford in my opinion.

You could get the X11 which is the hourly (I think) express service bus between Swansea and Carmarthen - I believe it stops on the main road right outside the shopping park. The Park and Ride is a bit of a walk away from there and only do buses back and forth to the city centre.

Have you been to the Morfa shopping place by the Liberty Stadium? Nice big New Look store and also George clothing store, also TK Maxx if you like it (I hate it!!).

OP, don't waste your petrol on coming to Swansea city centre - the council are currently succeeding where the Luftwaffe failed in World War II!! I can recommend Vik's shop though (Jigsaw!!).

Going a little bit further again though, Carmarthen is quite nice, worth a trip anyway with afew quirky little shops. It's difficult finding places that have got shops that are a bit different, that you don't find on every other high street in the country. I was having a bit of a moan about this the other day.

    Jxx
And it looks like we made it once again
Yes it looks like we made it to the end
