It's ten quid. The time for anybody to quibble about it was when the bill was plonked on the table, not a week or two later.0

But i haven't been back on her since the post as I have been unwell, But to clarify I informed the Charity organizer of me not being able to attend and I believe they informed the restaurant.
The £20 was for the meal only and all the profits from the Raffle on the Night and Group Quiz was going to the Charity. You informed the organiser on the day.And don't seem 100% sure that they passed the message on. Or if they did, when.Has anyone paid your missing £10.00?Or did the venue just say to the organiser that you need to pay it?0 -
No the organizers paid it for me on the evening when the bill was given to them
which of course i have reimbursed them for.
This only happened on Friday and the organizers did question them about it but to no avail.

As it was a buffet the restaurant probably quoted £20 per head with 50% paid upfront and balance due on the night. As is was probably a fixed cost based on the number of attendees they were given it wouldn't have mattered if only one person turned up the full balance would still have been due.0

It only happen Friday and it was questioned at the time the bill was produced but they said its there policy even though there is nothing in writing to show this.davidmcn said:It's ten quid. The £20 was for the meal and the money for charity was being raised through Raffles and Quiz, so NO not being tightborn_again said:So tight that they want the money back and the charity will lose out.

I don't really understand why you think that you should not have to pay it? This was a buffet lunch so all the food would have been bought in advance and the same amount of food would have been put out on the buffet so they have provided what they agreed and it's not their fault that you didn't attend. So just from a moral perspective it was right for the bill to be paid in full.suzyT said:No the organizers paid it for me on the evening when the bill was given to them

Not a direct answer but the trick when arranging a buffet is to order for 10 to 20% less people that you are expecting!
In the unlikely event that all turn up you simple say to the venue that you are sorry but you have a couple of unexpected extra people and could they possibly accommodate them.
I have never yet known a venue to turn down the opportunity to charge you for the extra places!0
