If its a charity do, would have thought that the op paid the £10 to the charity organisors who then booked the meal?
Then at the end of the meal they were told of the missing £10 which they paid?
Perhaps if the op does come back, they will clarify.

So tight that they want the money back and the charity will lose out.Life in the slow lane0

I used to be an administrator in a school and always ended up having to book the Christmas 'meal'. Every year, without fail, someone would choose not to turn up, having paid their deposit and I (probably the lowest paid of the party) would end up paying for the 'failed' meal. I soon learned to insist upon full payment before the meal, even though the venue didn't require it, Lesson learned!

But how much advance notice did you give the restaurant that you were not attending?0 -

The £20 was for the meal and the money for charity was being raised through Raffles and Quiz, so NO not being tight0 -
Thank you to all for comments although some I think were quite rude.
ie: Being Tight and being rude by not responding
But i haven't been back on her since the post as I have been unwell, But to clarify I informed the Charity organizer of me not being able to attend and I believe they informed the restaurant.
The £20 was for the meal only and all the profits from the Raffle on the Night and Group Quiz was going to the Charity.

OP how much do you reckon would have needed to be paid if everyone was sick and just didn't turn up to a laid out buffet?
