Solar Panel feedback tarrif
Options
Hi. Coop Energy are pulling out of arranging our Feedback tarrif. We were switched to Octopus a few months ago as gas/electric suppliers, with Coop continuing to be reponsible for our tarrif. We are not sure how , or with whom, to arrange the tarrif payments now Coop is closing that too. What would you do?

Are Octopus not taking over your FIT?
If not you are free to apply to any other supplier who offers FIT..you don't have to change your energy supplier.1 -
I was with Eon when my panels were fitted, and I've stayed with them through 3 changes of supplier since, never had any problems, promptly paid 7/10 days after sending in a meter reading, every 3 months.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. I am with Good Energy for my solar panels, never had a problem; but the payments seem to take ages, not too bothered about that.

I would wait to initiate the switch until you have received your Q4 payment.0

I have had an offer to buy my future FIT payments. The panels were installed in 2012 so we are receiving the best rate of tariff and normally we would sooner carry on receiving the FIT payments but we are planning on selling the house in the near future so the options are to loose the FIT payment altogether or have a substantial lump sum. Has anyone else done this and are there any pitfalls with selling. They would only be buying the FIT payments, not the panels and they would maintain the panels.0

It might put off potential buyers since, as I understand your post, they would not benefit from the panels or certainly not from the FIT.0

I've seen house sales held up due to FIT issues. (Former FIT employee)0 -
You don't need to worry about waiting to initiate a FiT switch as really, it doesn't matter too much.
The big 6 have the cash flow to pay out whenever to domestic customers.
Good Energy don't have the abundance of cash to do this, so you would need to wait approx 2 months for your payment.
However they do have the 2nd biggest FiT claim after Npower and basically set up the scheme before Ofgem took it over.
@microflying - I would strongly advise against this. Unless you're in desperate need for upfront cash, you will lose out in the long run. You then need to accommodate the company installing meters which can be read remotely, plus still have the annoyance of a meter inspection every 2 years, with no benefit to yourself.0
