Advice needed after screw up

Options
I am hoping the hive mind can help me and tell me what my rights are. I used Kayak website to search for return flights from Manchester to Paris in the summer. I found the ones I wanted and clicked through to lastminute.com to buy them. The confirmation email had the wrong return date so I checked and something has gone wrong and I have been booked on a day early for the return journey. I know what you are thinking but I still had the kayak webpage open, it opened lastminute in a new tab, and it showed the correct date.
I rang lastminute and they said its tough but they might be able to cancel it with a 30 Euro charge. I said okay do it thinking I will also be contacting my credit card company to contest it. I have to wait 7 days before I can contest the transaction with them.

This all happened this morning. I have since had an email saying I cant cancel the flights but I have been refunded for the baggage I paid for??
Where do I stand because I genuinely have not made a mistake.

Unless you have screenshots to prove it you're probably stuck.

If you'd booked direct with the airline you'd probably have been able to cancel without charge within 24 hours.
  • I have got a screenshot showing the kayak webpage with the correct dates but thats it. Im never using lastminute again!

There are hundreds of complaints about Lastminute.com out there. Next time book your flights direct from the airline and you won't have these kinds of problems.

or do what i do, find a trusted travel agent and ask them to email you the quote, once you see everything correct email them back to confirm so you have the correct dates on email. might cost a few pounds more but never had a problem in all my years

Or better still......maintain control of your own booking by avoiding agents altogether. It's not the 1970s.
