Infrared heating panels

I’m interested to hear of your experiences with using infrared heating panels. I’m thinking of having them installed at my mother in laws flat, she’s nearly 90 so could be reluctant to change. I would like to be fully aware of all the positives as well as the pitfalls. She lives in a grade 2 listed building so has only single glazed windows and has high ceilings. Currently, the heating she has are convector heaters which are very expensive to run and there’s no access to natural gas. Thanks 😃

Welcome to the forum.I appreciate you are new to the forum, however if you go to 'search' at the top of the page and enter terms like infra-red heating there are many hundreds of posts on this subject. The link below will take you to one such thread:You need to be aware on MSE there are many contributors with a vested interest who try and promote a product. If they are too blatant their posts are removed, but some post as satisfied users of a 'wonderful product' and this applies to IR heating. The first and most important fact to appreciate is that ALL electrical heating is 100% efficient and you get out EXACTLY the same amount of heat for the same running cost from any electrical heater from a £10 fan heater from Argos to a £2,000 heater from the con artists that operate in this field. This applies to IR heating as well, and there are many who imply, or claim, that IR heating is more efficient - it ain't!That said IR heating has advantages in some circumstances. Because it directs a 'beam' of heat it used to be used many years ago in unheated bathrooms. It also is very affective in 'beaming' heat toward a single person in a room, but does not provide central heating.Read the posts, but the last point is if you want to try IR heating buy a cheap(£30 or so) heater and don't be fooled by some of the 'blurb' that claims their IR heater costing £hundreds is more efficient
