Diverted flight due to unruly passengers

Hi Martin and all

I was recently on a flight from Gatwick to Mexico. We were delayed on arrival in Mexico for practically a day as we had to stop in Winnipeg to allow two passengers to be arrested for unruly behaviour. TUI have said that we are not eligible for any compensation as it was extenuating circumstances. Any advice on our rights or next steps would be most appreciated.  If you need any other information let me know.

You could try suing the 2 idiots why caused the diversion.

The delay was clearly outside their control, so long as they looked after you in Winnipeg, there is no other claim. Indeed it will have cost TUI multiple thousands of pounds to divert and pay for a hotel for 300 people so they won't be offering they are not legally obliged to offer

According to reports, the passengers were put up in a Winnipeg hotel.

Apparently he has been jailed for 30 days and fined £58,000 ('in restitution').

Appears to be a Peaky Blinders wannabe from one of the photos.

I guess tangling with RCMP softened his cough somewhat.

Bizarrely, a woman unconnected with him was also removed from the plane and was fined the same.

Both had allegedly been drinking on the flight.

No surprise there then.
