After the price rise announcement, checked future bills to discover that our £67 a month bill (TV/Broadband/Talk) was rising to £87. We have Sky Q with family pack (not HD), multiroom, box sets, the basic fibre broadband and talk line rental. That's it.
Called up and were offered £58 to stay with "faster broadband". Husband wanted to discuss with me so called back, charge had risen to £70. Plus is wasn't faster broadband it was the same speed broadband but with the signal in every room guarantee. Also, whereas they had said the £58 wouldn't increase in April, they admitted that the £70 would rise to £82. Plus they wanted £20 setup fee for arranging over the phone. Tried to see if it could be done online but totally useless trying to discover what we have and what is ending when. Just wanted out. Sky make things unnecessarily complicated with bundle deals and discounts if you have this or that which you need to be a maths genius to get your head round.
Now given notice and got the cancellation emails saying "Although the terms and conditions of your agreement require a minimum subscription period, due to your present situation we're prepared to cancel your subscription account" but we have different termination dates for TV, Broadband and Talk because we have been with them for years and gradually added services over time. Situation with contracts is that we are out of contract for Broadband and Talk (don't know when that happened as can't see any dates online) but still in contract for Q until 29th April.
Going to Virgin Media for £45 a month (£165 Quidco cashback) where the Broadband is roughly 5x faster and get a call plan which is better than Sky where it was line rental only and no calls. Been with Sky 20 years so thought it was a bit rich to be told we were losing our "loyalty benefits". What benefits, exactly?
Just paid the Feb bill. Future bills for March/April/May have been updated to show removal of TV with some pro-rated TV charges for 8 days in April which we don't have a problem with. However Broadband and Talk are a different matter.
Even though we gave notice today and Broadband and Talk are due to terminate 4th March and Virgin are switching us 3rd March it looks as though Sky intend to continue to bill us for the full monthly Broadband and Talk cost up until the end of May. Can't see beyond that. Whenever you ask a Sky rep they just tell you that Sky bill a month in advance and the money will be returned to your within 45 days but we are talking charges on and April bill AND a May bill for a Broadband service terminating 4th March which is a helluva lot longer than one month in advance, so how do we avoid paying for a service we won't be receiving as will be with Virgin by then?
Can't cancel the Direct Debit as Sky Q doesn't terminate until 29th April (they are stopping billing us after 1st week in April according to future bills) and so we need the DD in place until we are out of Contract for Q.

What date does your bill get generated and what date is the billing cycle?Normally what happens is the future bills don't take into account any cancellation until the service is actually cancelled. It's then at that point you will see a pro-rata refund on the next bill etcCurrently in a Protected Trust Deed - 23 payments until DEBT FREE - February 20271
