Openreach want to run a cable over our garden...

knock on the door this afternoon, chap from Openreach telling us that tomorrow they want to run wire between a telegraph pole next to our house and another one behind the house that boundaries our back garden - which will then run over our garden, obviously 80 odd feet in the air or whatever it is. He said it was a courtesy call to let us know.
Are they allowed to just do that, or do we have a right to say no or request an alternative?
There are wires already in place in the street but none that cross peoples gardens in this way.

Yes, Openreach are allowed to fly wires across you property in order to provide service to another customer.1
