They are not saying "do not travel" but to only travel if necessary. This is not necessary travel. It doesn't say travel only if necessary at all? Not sure where you saw that?Just because an event you booked has been cancelled does not allow you to claim back the holiday because of this. That is not how it works.

I can’t see any mention of any travel restrictions at all apart from something about Fukushima. You might have a claim about the marathon tickets but not the flights or other costs.0

yep exactly. Will be able to claim back the event that was cancelled but not the holiday as there are zero travel restrictions on Japan

Marathon entry - event not happening so you will not be provided with what you paid for. If they are not refunding then card company is a good shoutLost_Prophet said:I'm torn. Chargeback yes, Section 75 though refers to service quality or goods/services not received. I would not be getting / have not got what I paid for (1) Tokyo Marathon have taken the fees and are not providing a refund for a now-canceled marathon (2) I've made best endeavors to reach an agreement with the airline and agency under circumstances which they should understand (i.e. even pushing my flight back by 12 months is a more than acceptable option to me) but the service will likely go un-used because of the travel advice.
Flight - flight is still operating, you have seats booked on the flight, you are being provided with what you paid for. You cannot go to card company and claim refund for a flight that is operating because you no longer want to use it.
I wouldn't expect much/anything from LastMinute...they are a middleman and will only pass on what the airline refunds/allows (less their fees) they are not going to refund you from their own pocket. The cheapest ANA tickets do however appear to be changeable/refundable for a fee - although the fee may be large and LastMinute (Bravofly) are not the most efficient third party ticket flogger to process on your behalf (plus they will likely point out that you agreed to their terms which would have stated non-refundable)0 -
If you had booked the whole trip with one supplier as a package (including the marathon entry - so it was a package based on the marathon) then you may have been eligible for a refund or claim.
However as others have said, the flights and park tickets are still available as per the terms you booked under. Unless the UK Government advise against travel to Japan (unlikely) then you are a bit stuck. I'd be very surprised is a Section 75 claim was successful as no supplier (Lastminute/ANA/Disney/Train Company) have defaulted or failed to provide the service. That said if your bank are saying they'll try a Section 75 then you have nothing to lose - but it may be the c/s agent didn't fully grasp the situation and you may be disappointed further down the line.1 -
Let me put it another way, whilst this situation is not your fault, do you believe the credit card company is culpable and that they should take the loss and refund you?
This is not a S75 claim. The services providers are still able and willing to provide the services purchased. You just have a disinclination to travel and use those services.1 -
So why can't you go on holiday and go to Disneyland as planned?1

I’d probably pay a few grand to not have to take an 8 month old baby to a Tokyo, tbh.
Have you ever ever flown long haul economy with a tiny baby? She won’t appreciate Disney either!0
