Thanks Callum, you posted same time as mine.Only just seen it.Am going to try later when back on computer.I do have the Vista driver,I saved it from last year and updated it today.I went through all the steps again this morning as per last year but it just comes up with the error code I posted.

It's a very old printer, pre Windows 7 days, and Lexmark do not support it for anything post Windows Vista. You might get it working with an older driver and/or compatibility modes, but as has already been suggested, consider a new printer. They are not expensive these days, especially if you get one that can take compatible cartridges.I had a similar problem with and old HP printer. Got it working under Windows 7 with a different driver, and lost a few features, but Windows 10 effectively killed it and I bought an Epson inkjet, which has worked fine since and takes non-Epson catridges at a fraction of the price of genuine Epson ones.

Which printer did you buy?I bought an Epson XP-342, which is now discontinued. It has 4 separate ink cartridges, meaning you only replace the one that has run out - usually black goes well before the 3 colours, which always seem to run out together. But that could just be my printing habits. It does excellent colour photographs on glossy paper, with borderless printing if desired. Took quite a few trials to figure out the best settings for colour printing, but seems to be OK for my use now.It takes compatible cartridges, last set of 4 I bought were £11.99 on Amazon and are in the printer working fine. Genuine Epson sets cost £52.98.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Thought you would all like to know.Never one to give up and let a computer beat me.,I deleted and uninstalled everything again. Then went through the steps that worked for me last year as best as I remembered. And within 10 minutes I had everything working again.Printer burst into life and is just like before.Must have had it about 15 years !! I am pretty chuffed(as you can tell).Happy days.

Thanks. And I have made a note of what you have,Victor,in case another update wipes it out again, and kills it permanently! .I'm sure that is the reason why it stopped working.I really do prefer just a simple printer like this one as I only print occasionally, mainly for my genealogy records. And I can still get ink for it no problem.0
