They suggested to take the car to my nearest dealer as the car has 3 months (or 3000 miles warranty)
Was it a Ford under the Ford approved-used scheme?

If so, you shouldn't even need to use your consumer rights to reject it - just use the 30-day/1k mile "no quibble" rejection.

    Its not a Ford.
Its a VW passat Bluemotion 2.0 2013 with 54k on the clock.

Personally, I would give the dealer more than just a few minutes to respond and then only invoke credit card if the dealer is unhelpful.

Drop the car back with a letter of rejection and the keys.

So the fact it was a Ford dealer is irrelevant. It's simply a used-car sales business.

I have spent 4 full days to and fro having to take it to different locations and leave the car with them for 2 days.

Have you not rejected it yet? The longer you leave it, the less chance of them accepting it back.

Yes, I have sent them a rejection letter (emailed to dealer principal) and also via resolver. As I live 120 miles from the dealers I don't want to go there until they ask me to. Emailed them yesterday but no response or calls so far, I read on trustpilot from a reviewer that they ignore rejection and it took 4 months for this customer to have the car returned and refunded!
I will give them 2 days to respond and see how it goes.
    Will keep posted.

More lessons on being wary of buying cars a long way from where you live, unfortunately.

Similar cars within 40- 50 miles from my locality is £1000's dearer.

Then it's a trade-off, where you have to accept whether the risk of hassle is worth the saving.
