I don't regard Premium Bonds as any sort of sensible investment; just as a less ludicrous way of wasting money than spending anything on the lottery. I now have £25 - the minimum - in premium bonds, and feel absolutely no desire whatsoever to buy lottery tickets. I never spent huge amounts on the lottery; probably around £30 a year, money that is now gone forever. Effectively, I am now a lot better off; not least because, if I ever decide I really want the money back, I can reclaim it.
