New Car - Is Display Model Classed As A New Car?

There must be an order number on your order form.0

Why do people come on here and ask a question that no one can answer rather than asking the dealer when standing next to the car in question. Sorry OP but that surely is the simplest thing to do1

There is a £1,500 deposit contribution if you take out their PCP finance, which you can do and settle the next day with no fees.crowncd said:We are paying full price for the car and it's top of the range. It's a brand new model and no discounts available so far although we did squeeze some free car mats out of them.
I've also run a quote on CarWow and already had two dealers back offering a few hundred quid off on top of this £1,500 deposit contribution.0 -
When we got our new car it was the one in the, showroom.
Sat in it, dealer said do you want it. Agreed and he said "That is your car sat there, what you see is what you get" So had quite a few extras thrown in that you normally don't.
No issue with it sat in showroom for others to look at. Far better than sat in a field out in the rain.Life in the slow lane0 -
There are plenty of "new" cars that have been sitting on a disused airfield for a few weeks or months. One that's been parked in a warm air-conditioned showroom is likely to be in better condition.
If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -
I bought a car that was on show in the show room. I got a good discount because it was just before plate change and they wanted it shifted (making numbers for the month/quarter). It was brand new, delivery miles. I qualified for the manufacturers 0% HP deal and servicing deal - which were not available on used or nearly-new deals. I was the first keeper on the log book. Really its no different to buying clothes off the rack (well ignoring the difference in price!) - just check it over and make sure there is no damage. At the end of the day they'll have looked after it, cleaning it regularly, and it may only have been in the show room for a matter of weeks - they'll want to keep changing the cars regularly to keep the show room "fresh".0

Thanks for the helpful and reassuring comments everyone.
I didn't realise that you could cancel a PCP deal virtually as soon as it had been agreed however, I did get a 0% deal on the finance. I could pay for the car outright but I'll pay a deposit and put the rest in an interest earning account.
When we ordered the car in December there really weren't any discounts on offer.
At the end of the day maybe I'm being a little too cautious and at least as someone has said, the car hasn't been stood out in a field for months on end.0 -
I've had a discount offer of £1,915 from FG Barnes Canterbury MG. So its not 0% if it's costing you an additional £1,915...crowncd said:Thanks for the helpful and reassuring comments everyone.

The best interest you can currently get from £20k in a savings account is 1.35% from Marcus. That will only return you £820 over 3yrs.

Last time we bought a new car 3 years ago we asked the dealer if it was the one sitting in the show room.He said no.Asking him how would we know, he gave us the engine number of the one in the showroom and also some number engraved into the front windscreen..It's your money. Except if it's the governments.0

"Some number in the windscreen" - that's the VIN of the vehicle, the only unique and unchangeable permanent identity of it.slinga said:Last time we bought a new car 3 years ago we asked the dealer if it was the one sitting in the show room.He said no.Asking him how would we know, he gave us the engine number of the one in the showroom and also some number engraved into the front windscreen..
"New" goes by registration date. If the one in the showroom hasn't been registered, then it's new when it is. The warranty will start from the date of registration. If it's already registered, then it'll be used when it's sold, and some of the warranty will have expired.
If you want a car that's absolutely fresh out of the box, then get a factory order, not an ex-stock car.0
